The Guardian Reviews

Cancelling subscription - major price increase and still no Family Sharing

Stephane728 on

France

The Guardian is putting my subscription through a huge increase from 61,99€ to 94,99€ and, to make matters even worse, still doesn’t support Apple’s Family Sharing mechanism so that I could share it with my spouse. I’m cancelling my subscription (heartbroken) and will see how it goes. Too bad for The Guardian that they will lose the 15% discounted distribution fee for recurring subscriptions, which would revert to 30% if I subscribe again, but you had it coming. Also the requirement to sign in now, so that The Guardian and advertising partners can track readers, is an indignity. Any published article about defending privacy against corporations, not to mention the mere memory of Glen Greenwald, is just a joke as the Guardian is adopting the tracking tactics of Big Tech.

Reading from France the Guardian represents a breath of fresh air with its interesting topical articles. It’s completely different to French newspaper coverage.I enjoy reading different columnists especially John Crace who has a great sense of British humour. I often listen to the podcasts which deal with a wide range of issues. All in all a great package - keep up the good fight !

App ratée

dgilz on

France

Mandatory sign-in

After a recent update you need to sign-in to use the app. I would much rather not.

used to be a fantastic app, now ok

29amI on

France

I’ve loved this app for 10 years and have had no issues up till now. Some bugs have recently appeared, especially with the share and save buttons , that I was told could not be fixed because I’m using an older version of the app — my phone being too old to support ios15. I understand this decision to not accommodate all phones but it’s still frustrating to me personally. I teach a class on news and refer to the guardian extremely often in class so was used to sharing articles with students.

Efficient

It is an efficient tool to be kept posted about what is going on in the world daily.

Wouldn’t be without it

Bonjour : first thing I read in the morning. Then check it off against other online news sources. Still comes out best. Thank you. I appreciate the diversity of opinions. It’s the only piece of journalism I fully trust to represent what is.
