Up to 50% of articles can only be read under paid subscriptions
The Jakarta Post is worst news media app in Asia. Almost 50% of the articles can only be read if you pay their monthly subscriptions. To make a mockery of this app, some of the paid news are in fact overseas news which readers can read via other new media apps for free. The objective of a news media outlet is to deliver timely global news to their readers. But this app only cares about profits over their primary objective of ensuring readers have full access to their news. You need to pay in order to read their news articles. Most leading apps in the region allows readers full access to their news articles and generate revenues by advertisement. As a reader, as long as a new media outlet doesn’t give full access to readers to their news article, this is a poor and lousy company. If the quality of their news are high and they constantly deliver plenty of news by the minutes and hours similar to the news media The Straits Times in Singapore, I am more than willing to pay for the monthly subscription. But I am definitely not willing to pay for monthly subscription to The Jakarta Post for below par news media which deliver pathetic quantity of news. In short, The Jakarta Post is a lousy and mediocre level new media outlet.
