I concur with others that, although I love The Nation and its insightful journalism, the intrusive pop up ads make reading any article less than an enjoyable experience. I get that the subscription price is a bargain, and the publisher needs to rely on advertising revenue to make up the gap. However, something needs to be done to make the app more stable and not simply a platform to draw unsuspecting readers into watching a video ad. I am seriously considering unsubscribing. The app isn’t really usable anymore—don’t know if it ever was, but the last update was apparently 3 years ago (writing this in Dec ‘24). The ads will pop up even if you’re a subscriber, and as others have mentioned, make it nearly impossible to read the content. Also, this may just be me, but this app makes my phone run very hot in a way I’ve rarely experienced (I use an iPhone SE 3rd edition, the most recent). iPhone users: stick to the website, avoid the app. -- FinderKeeper, 2024-12-14 ### ***-- "Content good, apple app integration bad" The nation’s journalism has gotten even better recently so I would love to subscribe and read consistently… but I kinda thought if I bought a digital sub through the app using Apple account that the app would keep me logged in but no such luck.
