The app is free to download. Subscribers receive unlimited access. Most current New Yorker subscribers have unlimited access to the app as part of their existing subscription. Users who have trouble accessing stories can e-mail [email protected] for assistance.

Non-subscribers may access the app by starting a free trial. A subscription costs $11.99 a month or $119.99 annually, and includes a 7-day free trial, after which it will automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period and will state the cost of renewal. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable.

Subscriptions may be managed by the user, and auto-renewal may be turned off by updating the user’s App Store Subscription settings after purchase. Payment will be charged to iTunes account at confirmation of purchase.

Bad update

Zuiddave on

The latest update is a disaster. Not all issues show up in the app. And the issues are no longer organized logically. It is a real disaster. Please go back to an older version.

Somebody messed uo

Srek1953 on

It worked nice, but suddenly I am kicked out although my subscription expires only next year. I try to sign in again but are just getting into an endless loop. Somebody messed up. Likely I will end my subscription. The New Yorker has great content, but this frustrating experience ruins everything.

Issues with audio

TheGamingNipple on

I have enjoyed this app immensely ever since switching to a digital-only subscription. I have, however coma across a problem today. The audio versions of articles pauze when my phone is locked, and will only resume playing when I have the app opened. This is far from an ideal experience. I still give the app four stars, because the content is worth at least five stars.

Well designed app, but lacks functionalities

Bobbie Blindworm on

Besides the points already mentioned (like the option of a dark mode) I would love to have more functionality in the audio player. Especially a sleep timer which automatically stops the story after a certain time.

Dark mode would make it golden!

Olga Rych on

I love The New Yorker magazine for all the good stuff: writing, journalism, humor. I’ve been a subscriber for over a decade now. I really enjoy the app, but there’s one setting that would make a huge difference: dark mode. I usually read to wind down at the end of the day and a bright white screen is hard on the eyes after a long day of screens. Just a suggestion :-)

Needs some adjustments

musiXelect on

It the app allowed smaller text size and multiple page view, I would give this 4 stars. Add highlighting with Apple Pencil too, then the app deserves 5 stars.

It’s not the app but conde nast that’s the problem

liesbethk on

I had an international trial subscription that I couldn’t access because of a technical problem with my payment. I didn’t receive ANY reaction from conde nast. Now all the issues I paid for are not accessible anymore and my library is empty. So I paid for nothing.

Hotel California

Jaime-emiaJ on

“You can check out any time, but you can never leave…” With an int’l subscription its near impossible to cancel.

The new release doesn’t work on an iPad

es•se on

The new release freezes on an iPad, reinstalling doesn’t help!

Great app but could be improved

meocon5e on

Love the content, love the design. However as an app that is designed for reading on a screen, you should have an option to enable dark mode as the white screen can put strains on the reader eyes, especially when reading from a mobile device. So a dark mode would be very much appreciated.
