The New Yorker Reviews

Good but battery killer

WolNZ on

New Zealand

The app is pleasant to use, provides me with access to everything cleanly. Remembers where I was in articles, and allows me to save articles for later reading. But it is a battery killer. Using the app, I can feel the case of my iPhone 8 warming up significantly, and terminating the app, I feel the case cools. For that reason alone I limit my use of the app to just dipping in.

Why do I have to pay for ads?

The New Yorker is great. What’s not great is paying a large annual subscription and then finding the app keeps adding more and more ads. Now they are turning up in the middle of the text, covering the article and I can’t read the article. What’s going on?? Why do I have to pay for ads?

IOS Widget

An ios widget showing the latest news would be nice

Why so difficult?

Grumpy as *ell on

I am a long-standing subscriber. I used to regularly read the New Yorker on my iPhone now I can’t. I have to Link it- whatever that is. Yesterday it worked, today it does not. Why do I have to keep putting in my subscriber #? Why does nobody reply to several requests for help on the help desk? Surely paying a subscription gives me access? Why not? I actually rate the current service zero out of ten.

What a great App for both condensed and detailed news stories covering everything that is relevant in todays news stream with additional interesting stories about - well just about anything from Politics to Business to Tech to Humanity. I have had this App for 2 years and l subscribed for 2 years in advance. Do yourself a favor and get onboard.👍🤘👍

Very good

Great app, but the smallest text-size setting is still too big! It would be good if the line spacing was set lower too. Also, there should be a ‘Home’ button on the disappearing nav menu (in addition to “Back”, bookmark and share).

Please create a dark mode

Alipaws on

The app is great during the day, but unusable for reading at night because there is no way to put it on dark mode with a black background.

Dark mode, please

I get that you can’t do it with the historical articles, but get with the times, please.
