## The Oldie magazine Description
The idea for the Oldie was cooked up 25 years ago by its founding editor, Richard Ingrams, and his much-lamented successor, the late Alexander Chancellor. Their aim was to create a free-thinking, funny magazine, a light-hearted alternative to a press obsessed with youth and celebrity. The Oldie is ageless and timeless, free of retirement advice, crammed with rejuvenating wit, intelligence and delight. I look forward to welcoming you to our loyal, ever-growing readership.

Harry Mount, Editor

## The Oldie magazine Reviews in United Kingdom

### **--- "Can’t buy single copies"
I have used for about two years downloading single copies as I don’t want every copy
This option has now gone from the app and only offers a full years subscription
Very disappointing
-- Chissletop, 2025-03-20

### ***** "Review"
Simply the best Magazine on the planet
-- CRESPIAN, 2024-09-11

### ****- "Cannot view after iPad reset"
Having had to reset my iPad, I opted to reinstall my apps individually, rather than use the backup, not wanting to reintroduce any fault on the system. This worked on every app except The Oldie.
I have now found that by apparently purchasing a subscription directly from The Oldie, it has, though, awoken my Apple subscription - something neither Apple nor The Oldie have been able to tell me! Hence the dropped star!
-- kdavisa, 2024-02-10

### **--- "Digital Disappointment"
I love The Oldie and have subscribed to the print edition for years.
Due to eyesight deterioration I have changed to digital copy. I access it on my iPad, however I cannot make the page bigger, the print is too small to read, I have to email the page to myself, when I am able to ‘pinch apart’ the page to make the text bigger. Is it me?
-- pixsey dixsey, 2022-12-14

### ***** "Navigation to memories forgotten"
There are so many fond and fun memories evoked from a century now passed. Perhaps a penny for your thoughts with pre-decimalisation. A loosening of a stoic ‘stiff upper lip’, and understatement for which we were once famed. The pleasure of a postcard in its rearguard of pen and stamp to the instantaneous Social media.
Favourite jokes of Barry Cryer which raise a harmless smile. The warm glow of recollection by a passage well written in a different manner for a different time.
One is often enthused to share these passages of the past with those whose comprehension can enjoy their value.
Wether with a page of paper, a digital screen or an email newsletter joy is to be had.
-- Arnwold, 2022-08-09

### *---- "Absolutely appalling app"
Whilst the content of the magazine is superb this app is a dismal failure
Sadly i shan’t be resubscribing
Frankly could do better !!
-- Ravenscourt, 2022-04-06

### *---- "App is really awful"
The magazine itself is really good but accessing the digital version is painful. As a yearly digital subscriber I find it almost impossible to access anything other than the blog. Why is it so difficult? Avoid the digital subscription option just buy the print version.
-- Belle Vale, 2020-09-04

### **--- "Awful website"
I am a subscriber to The Oldie , I find the website is very hard navigate and I am constantly being asked to sign in again and email addresses are not recognised.
Very disappointed.
-- KUBITSCHEK, 2020-05-01

### ***** "Great magazine."
Great magazine.
-- paulgibbo, 2020-02-22

### *---- "Oldie"
I paid for 12 month subscription including the offline version and get asked to pay £2.99 but not every month. The magazine is good but it is no good when you are on holiday and you cannot download
-- Tan boycott, 2018-02-01
