ペトラ博物館では、遺跡公園内では目にすることができないものを紹介しています。ここでは、石器時代から現在までのペトラを体験し、古代都市とそこで暮らしていた人々の隠された謎を探求し、発見することができます。
ペトラ博物館は、ペトラ遺跡とその周辺から発掘された選りすぐりの出土品の展示に加え、タッチパネルによる展示解説、3D CGアニメーションの復元映像、および原寸大の復元模型も導入しています。それらはすべて最近の考古学調査に基づいて構成されたものです。
2014年10月17日に、アブドッラー2世・イブン・アル・フセイン国王陛下により、ペトラ博物館の礎石が据えられました。そして2019年4月18日の「世界遺産の日」に、アル・フセイン・ビン・アブドッラー2世皇太子殿下により博物館は公式に開館しました。
ペトラ博物館の建設および開館準備は、日本政府の協力のもと、ペトラ開発観光庁が実施しました。
このアプリは、展示品の360°画像や展示品に関連するアニメーションに加え、約40点の展示品の音声ガイドがお楽しみいただけます。
