The Photographer's Ephemeris (TPE) helps plan outdoor photography shoots in natural light, particularly landscape and urban scenes. It's a map-centric Sun, Moon and Milky Way calculator: see how the light will fall on the land, day or night, for any location on earth.
Whether you need at-a-glance information on today's sun, moon and Milky Way data for your current location, or need to plan a precise alignment of the full moon for a future shoot, TPE has the tools you need. The combination of augmented reality, line-of-sight analysis and visual search supports the most sophisticated photo planning needs.
Night mode features a 3D representation of the Milky Way, pole stars and major constellations directly over the map, so you can easily visualise exactly how to align your shot.
Research and save your own list of favourite photographic locations, using seven different map types (including two offline maps) and save them in your locations list. Favourite locations are always displayed right there on the map.
Advanced features including visual sun and moon search, automatic time zone and elevation detection, correction for atmospheric refraction and height above the horizon, ensuring that you have the best possible information for planning your shoot.
You can even determine when the sun or moon will rise from behind nearby hills and mountains.

this is a great tool for togs, however, the UX is not that intuitive, and help is hard to get. I would still recommend it!

The app is a wonderful for photographers planning outdoor shoots. It does what it says but could do with some interface improvements. The ability to add events to your calendar is great! 👍👍👍👍

I have been using this program for years when shooting professionally as an event photographer. Lets me plan out my photo shoot for the best natural lighting as well as setting up full flash. Now since retired, I use it to plan my astronomy viewing. The latest update is fantastic for this! This app is absolutely worth its cost!

Been using it now for over 5 years. Nothing beats it. Nothing comes close. Easy to use. And my go to app for all blue hours. Golden hours. Sunrise. Sunset. Moon. Etc.

A wonderful surprise after many years! Eclipses too!

I've been using TPE for many years now, to do mundane stuff like help people plan weddings so the photos would work. And yesterday I discovered it also predicts eclipses. Beautifully and precisely. Great stuff!

Keeps crashing

Any time I have TPE open for planning and try to get the info to TPE 3D or transit, it always hangs or crashes.

Amazing App

With this app I have been able to plan for shots for a planned trip or for a date and time that I can get a shot based to the sun or moon position relative to a land mark. I’ve used it for city shots and nature shots. It’s a great tool.

I have had this app for a year and it has been a GREAT HELP. I take twilight photography and I can Dial in the sunset in the area I want to photography in. Find where the sunset will set and on the date that I will be in the area , a great help. I would recommend this to EVERYBODY that want to know where the sun and moon will rise and set. I have recommend this to all my friends. The new changes (April 2015) have been greatly received easier to to use. I ALWAYS use it to plan photographic adventures. Letting me know where the sun and moon will be at the place I am traveling. Best app for traveling. July 5, 2016 I have used and trusted the app since it beginning. I am a photographer that like to photograph sunrises and sunsets. I use this app to check sunrises and sunsets in the area's that I travel. The ability to keep locations I like to go is a very big plus. It is nice that I can see the times of sunrise or sunset and the dates of area's that I am thinking to photograph. I recommend this app highly. Nov 2 2016 LOVE and trust this app, I have use this app since it came out. I am a photographer and use it to take photo's of the sunrise and sunsets. It lets me plan my projects, locations and times so I can get the most out of the time in the area. Have shared this app with friends that NOW trust it .
