The Photographer's Ephemeris (TPE) helps plan outdoor photography shoots in natural light, particularly landscape and urban scenes. It's a map-centric Sun, Moon and Milky Way calculator: see how the light will fall on the land, day or night, for any location on earth.
Whether you need at-a-glance information on today's sun, moon and Milky Way data for your current location, or need to plan a precise alignment of the full moon for a future shoot, TPE has the tools you need. The combination of augmented reality, line-of-sight analysis and visual search supports the most sophisticated photo planning needs.
Night mode features a 3D representation of the Milky Way, pole stars and major constellations directly over the map, so you can easily visualize exactly how to align your shot.
Research and save your own list of favorite photographic locations, using 7 different map types (including 2 offline maps) and save them in your locations list. Favorite locations are always displayed right on the map.
Advanced features including visual sun and moon search, automatic time zone and elevation detection, correction for atmospheric refraction and height above the horizon, ensuring that you have the best possible information for planning your shoot.
You can even determine when the sun or moon will rise from behind nearby hills and mountains.

The Photographer's Ephemeris Reviews

The single best photographers app one can buy

always distorted on

Without a doubt this is the best investment I’ve ever done for an app supping my photography. Planning, scouting and executing my landscape photography is a lovely experience and it delivers stunning efficiency. I can recommend it above everything else.

Excellent app

Works nicely in Sweden with both iPad and iPhone. It´s hard to review this app. This is actually one of the most well designed app on may iPad. If you are serious about photography, this app is like a Leica lens. You need to look at two ten minute videos to understand the important functions in the app. In the beginning the app looks complex, but it´s not. Just spend 10 minutes with the first video to get you started. You can map the degrees and inclination of sunsets-sunrises and combine it with the height of hills and mountains. You get the same function for the moon, but also the different sizes and phases of the moon, and you can easily find the dates and times for the perfect moon on a certain location on the map. All with at few touches on your screen. This app has much more functions than I thought was possible. However, It is confusing to se that the automatic time zone gives me GMT +02.00, when I´m in GMT +01.00 time zone. I did a manual reset to GMT +01.00, which got me one hour wrong..

Och inte bara för fotografering. Att veta var solen är har man ofta nytta av

Ovärderlig!

GoranWK on

Sweden

Bad maps

Ralph_64 on

Sweden

Great app! But since Apple replaced Google Maps with Apple Maps it's practically useless. In many areas where it used to be perfect view of the landscape it's now only clouds or no details at all. Not TPE's fault but still - it doesn't work anymore.
