Hiding behind a pay wall
Another text editor which you have to pay to use. Not worth it.

Another text editor which you have to pay to use. Not worth it.
I’ve been looking for a simple app that allows me to write and open .txt and .rtf files without all the overhead most other apps burden themselves with. THIS IS IT! Clean, simple, does just what I wanted. I LOVE IT (and you probably will too!). Check it out!
works as advertised! no gotchas!
if you looking for a decent text editor you've found it!
Don’t understand the so so reviews. This is a great and simple text editor that does everything you need it to do. Well done and thank you!
I downloaded this because it was completely free, and I’ve had way more trouble than I should finding a free basic text editor (Apple: why isn’t there a version of Text Edit for the iPad?!?) This app has two serious limitations. First, it doesn’t support predictive text, so I have to fully type Every. Single. Word. Every other word processing app supports predictive text. Second, it says it supports iCloud Drive. I can figure out how to open files from iCloud Drive, but not how to save them to iCloud. I’m going to finish the document I’m working on and then try something else.
But I cannot seem to select text- I did chance upon a select all command but couldn’t find it again- why don’t you include some instructions as to how to use this app? Also is there any form of margin control? My doc loaded nicely then expanded to the entire width of my screen, making reading more difficult. New user
I'm always on the lookout for a new and better basic text editor. "The text editor" app is a good one. It supports text, rich text (RTF). Files created within the app are stored internally. That allows one to use a nice built-in search facility. However, this does cause one drawback: when you open a text file from iOS "files" and it loads in to "thetexteditor," you can only view the file. In order to edit a file, you'll need to open/create it directly from the app. If you need to save the file to iCloud or somewhere else, you will need to use the share sheet function, which is prominently shown. The app supports basic functions like delete, rename and open from the three dot menu. The RTF capabilities are good and include image capabilities. What I really like is it doesn't limit you to only opening files with a .txt suffix. I was able to open up a large plain text “bookmark.HTML” file with this editor and it handled it flawlessly. The app evens lets you Zoom the text size in and out. I am hoping the developer will add search and replace capability in a future release.
Is there any source of information on how to use this app? For instance if I create a new text file I cannot see how to rename the file from “untitled”. I think I must be missing something basic.
