The new app is terrible. Slow to load and navigate
I read the actual paper magazine for 20 years, which was always a week out of date by the time it reached me. I didn't really mind, though. The Week is a review, after all. I started using the app version recently instead of getting the paper magazine. Advantages: none, really, unless more timely content is important to you. Disadvantages: it's not as pleasurable as fading the paper magazine. But perhaps that's just me. At the end of the day, what matters is the content. And in this, the Week remains a peerless, more or less faultless magazine in this sense, whether you read the paper version or the app. These guys got it so right at the beginning that in the 20 years I've been reading it, they've made almost no changes at all to the format. They don't need to: it remains "all you need to know about everything that matters".
Very good
I do appreciate the Week. I am sorry though that you no longer sum up with the mist important things you need to know each day.
I miss the 10 things you need to know. Not the flaccid round up.
When time is short and the prospect of seeking out a balance of news, a Challenge …. The Week hits the spot and has a succinct way of delivery.
Might cancel.
Provides a synthesis of all the latest news that matters, complete with erudite commentary and amusing observations.
Regarding the magazine, the app could provide the same reading experience as MoneyWeek with text and images, but it currently only offers a PDF format. This means users have to zoom in to read the content, which can be inconvenient. Additionally, the app includes a podcast option, but it lacks support for background playing. This means that switching to another app or turning off the device while listening isn't possible, as the phone must remain unlocked on the app, consuming the battery.
The content has always been excellent. The app is now improved. You can view it in a magazine format (like a pdf). If you then tap on an article you can read it in a mobile friendly format. Tap the icon at the bottom of the page and you go back to the pdf style. The best of both worlds…
