The app is easy to use, but OMG it’s like selling your soul. Under the guise of ease, the app tries to encourage you to share way too much information. And your information isn’t only held by Thirdfort, but also at least one service provider. Some of the highlights: Thirdfort doesn’t even do the ID check but uses another service provider for this (Onfido IIRC). So your personal information doesn’t only go to Thirdfort. Of course, this service provider will necessarily retain at least some of your personal information for purposes of establishing an audit trail. Thirdfort also requests logging into your bank account. Madness. There is absolutely no need to allow such general access and for such detailed information. This, fortunately, can be avoided by uploading statements. Avoid if you can. If I had the time and energy to instruct an alternative solicitor not using Thirdfort, I would have. The guidance on what to do isn’t clear and there’s no upfront clarification of the things you’ll need. Doesn’t tell you what to do if you don’t have an up to date passport (but can be found if you ask the right thing in the support chat). What payslip do you get from state pensions? They don’t have all the banks in their list, thus one has to upload 6 months of statements — in paperless society, who has 6 months of statements on hand. You go through all the hassle of scanning ids, taking selfies, entering your address etc and you get to the last stage which is scanning a utility bill. And guess what it asks you to scan another document even though it only asks for one. And most utility bills are digital these days anyway. Finally gave up and sent docs as attachments via email to the solicitors. I can see why people are nervous about using the app, it could do with a tutorial and some information about how the app manages the security of the data. Open bank made the process so much easier (it’s read only but if you aren’t comfortable doing this you can upload statements manually). ID check was quick and more responsive/less error prone than what I’ve worked with in the past. Saved all my progress so I could do in multiple sittings. Based on other reviews: Don’t click links, I just downloaded the app directly from the App Store, entered my phone number and after an MFA check saw the request as well as who it was from (my solicitor). And when you have already provided ALL this information to a vendor, more than once, at least have the decency to pre-populate it in this app. ‘Tasks’ is a featured buzzword of this app. Humanity are destined to complete endless (pointless) TASKS … Listen to how often this term is used There is no CONTEXT. Who are ThirdFort?! Sounds spammy. Then a verification text from another provider - CloudOTP. Seriously. At least use the vendor name the client appointed. This terrible company is holding up my solicitor’s work. Nothing works and there is no work around to get past the many bugs throughout the app. I need to use this app in order to go ahead with purchasing a house and through no fault of my own I am unable to upload all the documentation I have in order to move forward with the purchase.
