Thisissand was created in 2008 as a website. It was a school project of a few art students, and to a surprise for the creators it attracted lots of visitors for years to come. In 2012 Thisissand was developed into an app and is still run by an original founder.

Thisissand offers different kinds of tools for choosing the sand color. Originally and still at the moment on Thisissand website, only the essential Color Palette tool is available. For the app, we have developed a few special kinds of tools which we offer in the Toolkit in-app purchase. Just like on the website, the special tools are not at all necessary to enjoy the app, but they're pretty cool and we're happy and thankful for your support if you're willing to try them out!

COLOR PALETTE: Use Color Palette to choose specific colors from a vast swatch of colors. You may choose a solid color, or multiple colors to variate between. Use the intensity slider to adjust how fast the colors change. You may also use the randomize button to get surprising color combos.

COLOR SHIFTER: Color Shifter continuously changes the sand color subtly or dramatically depending on the intensity slider adjustment. Color Shifter often produces rainbow like hues. To set the initial Color Shifter color, choose a color with Color Palette and then select the Color Shifter tool.

COLOR PICKER: With Color Picker, you may pick the sand color from around you using your device camera. It takes a little practice to point your camera and draw at the same time, but in return you get truly unique colors. Try adjusting the color change intensity low in the beginning to keep things under control!

PHOTO SAND: Want to try making a sand version of one of your photos? Photo Sand picks the sand color directly from the photo you've chosen from your camera roll. Try it out and learn the tricks to make abstract and/or photorealistic representations!

MY COLORS: Save your favorite colors in My Colors and access them quickly by long pressing the color button on the sand canvas. Try saving colors from around with Color Picker!

We highly value your feedback and questions. Ideas and feature requests for example are warmly welcome, even though with our scarce resources we're unfortunately not able to fulfil them very quickly. So please do send us email if you're having trouble with the app or if you have anything else to share with us, thank you! :)

## Thisissand Reviews in United States

### ****- "Could be free"
I feel too much content is locked behind a paywall. Otherwise great

### ***** "Thisissand Review"
I really love the app! I did see your post and I have one request. Please don’t put any of my pieces on YouTube. My username is candybigback. Also, I want to be able to follow artists. I love the app, and I hope that this review will help you to keep improving it.
-- Candy Big Back, 2025-09-07

### ***** "Thisissand Is Awsome"
This game is so fun! I love it and greatly recommend it. It’s a good relaxing game. And once you get good at it you get better things. And the special effects are really cool too!
-- Wildstyle(:, 2025-09-06

### ***-- "I don’t understand this!"
So I was told to delete Thisissand because I didn’t use it a lot but when I used my same account it won’t let me use it again so HOW DO I FIX THIS
-- Teddy senO, 2025-08-29

### ***** "I love it"
It’s so simple yet fabulous 💕
-- Cinema_Addict, 2025-08-12

### ***** "Great app, but…"
I should start by saying that I love this app, and I use it almost every day under the name lukelukeluke99. However, the option to report prices has become problematic, because some people’s stuff is getting reported and taken down for literally no reason. I’ve lost over half of my photosand pieces to this, and I really want to get them back. I’m not sure what could be done to restore them, but you could definitely improve the reporting issues and protect future pieces.

Update: I got my pieces back, and everything’s fine again, but it still seems easy to spam report

Also the search feature is completely broken btw

List of things to be fixed or improved:
-Coarse sand compatibility
-Fixing the search feature
-Fixing the problems with selecting what time period to present on popular (you can’t scroll without selecting something)

Edit:
I am now testing the new Beta version, and it seems to fix most of these issues, but at the cost of a lot of lag and blurring. It’s still in the early stages of development though, and I’m excited for when it releases!
-- lukelukeluke99, 2025-07-20

### ****- "Great"
You should get it
-- Pizza!!!!!2345, 2025-07-16

### ***** "Thisissand"
It’s kinda hard to make an art but it’s low-key fun and relaxing. If you need a brake to calm down just download this app the sand sound is just so satisfying
-- nitheunicorn123, 2025-07-13

### ***** "Dear developers"
This app so good I use it every day. I have made a lot of artwork. And have been useing it for years, but more frequently now. The community is really nice and supportive. I have made a few friends (for example —— @catss, @lukelukeluke99, @froggygirl, @canonfalcon) because of this app. And is really relaxing for me. My mother doesn't allow me to have any games at all, except for THISISSAND. (I used the messages app to get here)

I do have 2 questions. Why haven't you been improving the app? It’s been almost 5 years. Did you abandon this app? *Beige Elephant* has only made 1 app. (This one) Kinda makes me sad. But anyways, great app. Recommend it! Thank you.
-- 14.year.old.girl, 2025-06-12

### ****- "EVERYONE NEEDS THIS APP!"
The game is really fun Ive had it for about 2years and my face is always in my phone 📱 life changing!!! Thank you, the creators of this sand! 🩷🩷🩷❤️❤️❤️
