Threema is the world’s best-selling secure messenger and keeps your data out of the hands of hackers, corporations, and governments. The service can be used completely anonymously. Threema is open source and offers every feature one would expect from a state-of-the-art instant messenger. The app also allows to make end-to-end encrypted voice, video and group calls. Threema is designed from the ground up to generate as little data on servers as possible. Group memberships and contact lists are managed on your device only, and never stored on our servers. Messages are immediately deleted after they have been delivered. Local files are stored encrypted on your mobile phone or tablet. All this effectively prevents the collection and misuse of your personal information, including metadata. Threema is fully compliant with the European privacy legislation (GDPR).
ROCK-SOLID ENCRYPTION
Threema end-to-end encrypts all your communication, including messages, voice and video calls, group chats, files, and even status messages. Only the intended recipient, and nobody else, can read your messages. Threema uses the trusted open source NaCl cryptography library for encryption. The encryption keys are generated and safely stored on the users’ devices to prevent backdoor access or copies.

Recently stopped working
I’ve been using this App for many years without any problem but recently it stopped working properly. Messages don’t send and receive. Have contacted support but they keep saying it’s at my end despite the same problem happening to me and the other users in my group. Not I’m looking for an alternative App.

Currently app is stuffed. Sending and receiving all messages is barely working if at all! Please fix asap!!!
The best
This is the greatest and only messaging app to use
Sell outs
Completely undermines the purpose of it’s own existence by requiring identifying data from users. Used to require none back when I bought it and now it’s too late to get a refund. No one I know uses it anyway and the only value for money I get is entertainment from review bombing it here.
Secure but laggy
Secure app, but very laggy, can take up to 5 min for a message I have sent to even pop up, I haven’t been able to send a photo easily without sending it 20 times with it saying try again every time so forget about videos, I think signal is the go tbh
Great app, but has problems now
I have used the app for 4 years. Has always been the got to app for myself and friends for private messaging. Since the last update though, messages are not uploading properly for any of us. Often we when we see each, we complain that the other hasn’t responded. In actual fact, out messages sometimes don’t load onto the server from our phone. Apart from that, very happy with it.
Great app to use but why…
Why did the privacy policy changed from no data collected to linking identifiers? This was the reason I bought the app to begin with, and it being a paid app should mean that you don’t need my data. Signal manages to essentially offer the same product without identifiers for free.
