I placed an order to a restaurant earlier in the day in the morning for an evening pickup for an event and when I arrived at the restaurant they had closed for the day and nobody had called or confirmed this with me. Clearly the app did not send the order to the restaurant even though my card was charged and I received the order confirmation. Not happy with this app at all. Ever since this has changed to “local”, there are multiple bugs. The app won’t save any places as favorites, it displays only “connection error” when I try to access “my activity”, and every time I place an order at one of my frequent restaurants the order goes through but this app displays “error” and prompts me to try again. I was never informed that they didn’t have drivers I just placed the order and assumed somebody would pick it up. On top of that the only way to cancel the order is through the restaurant? Also there’s no way to delete a card once it’s been added, and the only way to see what cards are saved is during checkout. Worse I accidentally placed a second order while trying to figure this out. Now I just noticed it charged my old card and the new one! If I use toast again I’ll use ApplePay and then select the credit card I want to use there. Because the order will now be delivered in 41 minutes instead of 40. Okay, so I submit again. WAIT, ORDER DELIVERY TIME HAS CHANGED, CONFIRM? It will now arrive in 42 minutes instead. There is good reason to believe, from this and past experiences, that the Toast Local service does not even PRESENT the order to the restaurant until shortly before the promised pick-up time. This leaves the restaurant with little ability to control its preparation of food for loyal customers and almost forces the restaurant to make excuses and be unaccountable to loyal customers.
