Toot! for Mastodon Reviews

Eye candy but slow & weird UX

eobet on

Sweden

Everything in this app is animated (too much). Not sure if that’s the reason but on a 2020 iPad Pro it’s incredibly slow at times. Like, periodically it has seconds of lag when scrolling. Also can’t understand why all message buttons are just text instead of, for example, different colored symbols (also generally buttons not looking like buttons is poor UX).

Excellent mastodon client

Pär Björklund on

I've only spent about 15 minutes in the app so far but I love it. It's very polished and everything is smooth as butter, no lag/stutter like I've experienced in other clients. One complaint is the background animation on favorited/boosted toots, the line that scrolls from right to left. It's very distracting, to the point I have to scroll it out of view to be able to read the next toot. I would love to see an option for reduced motion or similar in the app.

Complete and Neat

I used Amaroq for quite some time but it started crashing on me so I was forced to change app. I tried several others before this one and they either lacked things, like looking at the federated timeline, missing multiple account support or assumed the order the toots were read in the timeline and thus causing jumps when loading folded toots. When I found this app I stopped looking. This has everything I need in a neat package. Everything is accessible from a single interface and it looks nice as well. I would recommend this app to anyone using mastodon daily, like I do.

Not updated for iOS 26

Lots of basic features like "writing a post" are half-busted now. Don't buy unless there's an update. Bummer... I liked this app a lot.

Abandoned app

I used to use Toot! regularly, but it hasn't been updated in 2 years. That makes it a possible security risk. Mastodon has become a thing of the past, I'm afraid.

still the best mastodon app

Best Mastodon Experience!

Just got this app a few days ago and I love it! It’s made the Mastodon experience even more fun. You can tell the developer put a lot of love and attention into it, because it shows!

Still my favorite mastodon client by miles.

Just an overall very nice client for Mastodon. Good attention to the details. 😺

Near perfect app

Cynlew16 on

United States

I’ve been using Toot! (after trying other apps) for nearly two years and LOVE it. It does (almost) everything I could ask for as a Mastodon/Fediverse user, and it does it without any apparent bugs. The one exception is not limiting posts to a specific designated language — unless I just can’t find that setting. I know I can select a language on the Mastodon app, but that setting doesn’t flow through to Toot! (Is there a fix?) Otherwise it’s a 10/10.
