Toshl Finance - Best Budget

I’m giving one star BECAUSE you guys added ANZ in the screenshots preview! But works ONLY for Australia, and this info isn’t in the app description. So, need to download and install to realize that. I’m not asking to add “every bank in the world at once." but to at least provide what is shown.

First of all I did not get a free trial, after telling me I’d get one they went ahead and charged me. The app is super confusing and I can’t even see my bank information correctly. The bank does not sync properly. I want my $7 back 😡

Dear Toshl, I am your loyal user since my study in Japan back in 2016. Back then, Toshl was lovely, I could do the bookkeeping at the end of the day without any fuss because I can always place the location where the transaction happened without being hampered by Toshl’s know-it-all algorithm of determining transaction location using GPS. Please bring that feature back, being modern does not always equal being smart or honest.

I've been looking for a good app to help with my budgeting for almost a year. All of them seemed to be too complicated or too simple for my personal use. I had almost given up when I stumbled across Toshl. Not only does it do what I want it to but the free version doesn't have annoying ads & it's actually fun to use. I get excited about my budget now!

Very polished app, easy to use and syncing works great, but it's pretty useless for managing a family. This is because you cannot easily assign a budget per person per category. For example, I need a way to allocate a clothing budget per person. A single budget for the clothing category is not enough. I like to save my money and buy good quality items that I wear often, but my wife likes to buy many lower priced items as soon as there is enough money in the budget to do so. Without a way to separate the budgets, her spending will use up the budget, leaving me with nothing to spend. Having a separate budget is the fairest way to manage this. Unfortunately the only way to manage this is to create a tag for every person-category combination i.e. "Jane clothing", "Joe clothing", "Jack clothing", Jane lunch", "Joe lunch", "Jane health", "Joe health", "Jack educational activities", "Jaquie educational activities" etc. This makes the app very messy, makes finding a tag very slow and increases the time it takes to enter an expense. I suggest the developers allow a combination of category and tag so you can create a budget for category: "Clothing and footwear" with tag: "Jane". This would keep the tags tidy and make it easy to enter expenses. Unfortunately I was advised that this is not an upgrade that they are likely to implement. After spending USD$30 to upgrade to Toshl pro I am feeling disappointed that I now need to look for an alternative budget management app. In summary, this is a fantastic app for managing a single person's finances, but in my opinion is not flexible enough to handle a household's expenses, or even a couple's expenses.

I get paid fortnightly. 99% of apps don't cover this but Toshl is perfect. I don't need the paid features as the free version covers everything. Fantastic app!

Fantastic job of making your finances fun, so easy to use yet it does everything you need to keep track of your finances.

With the updated website and the constant interference with the original toshl app. The simplicity and beauty of the original version is constantly behind interrupted with tags and reminders to update. This new version is a drastic step away from what made this app great. I will not be renewing my subscription anymore and will find something similar to the original version.

I’ve been using Toshl for more than 11 yrs now and is impressed by the simple UX. This app has helped me track my expenses and manage my finances better.
