The results could then be further clarified with metrics for price change over the period as well as total dividends collected. This app dredges up historical prices and dividend/interest payments to calculate total returns for over 10,000 securities. The results are displayed on interactive comparative charts that show both total and price only returns. This is particularly true when comparing equities to bonds where adding returns - dividends and interest respectively - can change the performance characteristics substantially. In addition, and unlike many other app and websites, this app allows you to define the time range you want to look at. I find this feature incredibly helpful. One feature the app does not have that I think would useful, is the ability to compare funds where you add a monthly contribution, as this would more closely reflect what most people do in their 401k and such.
