I was on the phone with their help line for over an hour. Aside fe not having the menu choice available, I was unable to complete the task in the car with the touchscreen. I spent the greater part of the day trying to get this to work for my wife. I failed. The help line knows little about the app or how to perform what seems like a function any couple would want to complete. My second bad exp. It is very glitchy. Auto start- sometimes it connects sometimes it doesn’t. I find being sure the doors are locked first helps start the vehicle. To start, the remote connection can only be assigned to one person at a time. This is pretty inconvenient. Would be nice to have my wife and daughter able to have access without me having to go to the app and assign them every time. We use the remote start a lot because we live in Montana. For some reason, the remote start feature requires that the doors be locked. In order to lock the doors remotely you cannot leave the key fob inside the vehicle. We are accustomed to leaving our fob in the vehicle when we are at home and work because it’s safe. Now we have to remember to take out the fob or we can’t remote start. If you forget, then you have to go to the vehicle to retrieve the fob in order to lock it, in order to remote start it, at which point you may as well just start it manually since you are already out in the cold. The app itself is slow to connect and if you navigate away from it while the vehicle is started then it continually prompts you to “allow” or “deny” access about every 20 seconds. Very annoying. The temperature setting for the heat inside can be adjusted from the app but only for the NEXT time you start the car. Huh? Why would I want to adjust it for the next time? I’d like to turn the heat up for this time. What sense does that make? I guess I’m just used to the Tesla app which is sooo much better than Toyota Connect. Some of these things might seem trivial, but we use them multiple times every day so it has a huge impact on our satisfaction. So much so that it’s causing us to reconsider our plan to buy two more new Toyotas this year. Not impressed with this app at all. Tesla has Toyota beat in every way when it comes to remote access. When you do activate the climate system, there’s a new nag screen, forcing you to acknowledge a long wall of text. It has a checkbox that says “do not show this again”, but even when you check it, it appears every single time. The app also nags you to enroll in clean energy whatever, the timing of which often interrupts whatever I’m trying to do. The Watch app is terrible. It constantly needs to be logged back in, even when the main app has “stay signed in” checked.
