I’ll update if I get the money back. -- Castelrink, 2024-08-27 ### *---- "Worst customer service who don’t have your best interests at heart" I was suggested by a friend to use Trade Republic for my savings, and it happens that some Youtube content creators dedicated to Finance, recommend also Trade Republic (but they recommend also to use their affiliated links...so is that completely uninterested...and objective opinion). Anyway, I downloaded the app and completed the signing process in the app, that's when the hopes turned into despair. The customer service is by email only, they stop replying to me when I was asking questions, especially because I was confused as to why they would request proof of address from a country I don't live in, even more knowing that I provided fiscal residence details of another country. Eventually I was provided with the correct link and provided a valid proof of address. But no reply, once more by email, you must wait until they see fit... So I replied asking for an update, two days after I provided the letter. Another day later I got an answer from a different Advisor, who completely ignored my previous email with the proof attached and concluded her email "Please note that from now on we will only respond to you when you provide us with the requested document." What customer service is that!! Rude and ignorant!!! I replied asking whether they checked my email from 3 days ago, attaching once again the proof. That letter has the date May 31st 2024, and it must be within 3 months to be valid. I submitted on August 5th so loads of time before being 90days old. To my surprise the following day that Advisor replied it was over 3 months. Do you find that their customer service is inspiring trust and confidence? Do you really believe that they have your best interest at heart and that they are doing the maximum to help you? Not a hope!! I provided a new letter I just received but had to wait for the following Monday to get an answer confirming they eventually accepting the proof of address. But I don't care anymore, I won't trust such a poor customer service to be there to help me if something goes wrong. And it will go wrong. I'm only waiting for my account to be opened so I can log in the app to delete it and request the deletion of all my information from their servers under GDPR laws. When it's too good to be true, it's just that. Security, customer service, and bank credit ratings should be the first criteria to choose a bank, not just their interest rate. I am writing this after a month of experience. Anyway, there are some downsides I’d like to mention. 1. Getting the physical card takes ages, I am still waiting for it but am using my virtual card and it’s doing the job. 2. The difference of the prices of ETFs/Stocks/cryptocurrencies between the prices on the platform and the price after the excution of transactions. 3. When adding money via Visa’master card or Apply pay, there’s a fee of 0.7% (transfer fee) But if you use money transfer (IBAN) from your bank into your TR account, it’s free of charge but it takes longer time. 4. Setting up the app was relatively simple and frictionless. Once you’re in, the app is not that clear cut and there are some confusing displays. Also there are relatively significant fees for lodging money after the first time. DONT ADD MONEY USING APPLE PAY/GOOGLE PAY. The app doesn’t save it as a valid bank account and then you can’t withdraw your money. Trying to figure this out from inside the apps support pages was like going around in circles. Useless support pages, no customer service. Eventually I figured it out by sending an actual bank transfer of €1 from Revolut to my Trade Republic account. Then it takes days to save, then it takes days more for you money to come back to you.
