The Traeger app is amazing when it syncs to the grill. I’ve had several issues though where my grill will show it has an excellent connection to WiFi, and the app just isn’t picking up that the grill is on. When that happens it completely defeats the purpose.

I had to completely shut down my 5ghz network to get this grill connected to the app.  Most companies have figured out iOS pairing over wifi when 5ghz is present.  Luckily I knew how to solve it on my own but most people don’t know how to shut off 5ghz wifi on their routers.

At some point they removed or hid the ability to write your own recipes for the grill from the app. This was a selling point for the smoker when I got it so I find the removal unacceptable.

This has been a great starter for smoking. I’ve smoked chicken, fish, turkey, pork, and beef with no disappointment. I just wish it let you know sooner that the pellets were low or out. It would also be nice if it held more pellets. Otherwise it’s been a great addition to our outdoor kitchen.

I will start off with saying that I understand that things need to be updated with time but it is just ridiculous that my grill requires a one hour update, for what!?I was trying to cook for my family when my Traeger decided to update and almost ruin all of my meat if I didn’t catch this in time. I am not the only one that suffered from this update as my friend have a prime rib that was destroyed! Down the trash it went. If you wanted to update the grill by all means go ahead BUT NOT THE WEEK OF CHRISTMAS!
