Simply the best app for cyclists! Forget Zwift, this is the real deal dedicated to making you faster.
The app is great. But I have problems calibrating my turbo trainer - tutorial video shows button Calibrate, but my iOS app doesn’t have it - very stupid. When connecting to mac with ant+ I can pair trainer but not my HR belt. Again stupid. Otherwise great training sessions
The app can only assess your fitness from TrainerRoad workouts. Outdoor workouts show up if linked to your computer but TrainerRoad cannot assess your fitness based on the data. So if you ride a lot outdoors, this app is not for you. AI is a buzzword in technology today, but there doesn’t seem to be any intelligence in TrainerRoad. Update: I’ve been using TrainerRoad for a while and it’s got a lot of great workouts and the support staff is good. There’s nothing AI about it, just algorithm to help calculate your FTP and plan workouts. My biggest complaint is that if you deviate from their workouts, or do a lot of outdoor rides, it seems to discount that data. Also it has no simple free ride function, like the basic wahoo app.
Exactly as the title suggests. The engineering team needs to be better.
This app gets it done. I’m always amazed that the workouts that it serves up are achievable with the AI adaptions. This is not the case with other apps that don’t adapt for things like time off, races, outdoor rides, etc. It’s hard to overstate the benefit of the Plan Builder that allows for an entire season or multiple seasons to be planned out in detail.
I’ve had TrainerRoad on and off throughout the years. I’m back to it for good now as I’ve seen it produce results time and time again. I’ve gone from runner to cyclist to triathlete. It supports getting faster across all three when you use it. Train now, alternate workouts, and the adaptive training are the 3 main reasons why I can’t live without it now. And bonus now! It pull in power from runs to be even more integrated in your workouts and training! Love it and worth every penny. Just do the year and save $50. :)
I have been using the TR app for about a year now, and I absolutely love it. I especially appreciate the red and green light options and the Masters plan. This summer, I am excited to try using it for my outdoor rides as well. Also, thank you Ask a cycling coach podcast!
I’ve been on multiple training platforms that I won’t name. They’ve been okay, but for my busy lifestyle this provides the most ease and flexibility in planning my workout. Really loving the incorporation of green light and red light. I suffer from overtraining and this keeps me in check. I will say I also put a power meter on my bike to move things outdoor, which has been helping immensely with an understanding that I’ve been going way to hard in previous sessions. Training for the Asheville Gran Fondo in July right now and am looking forward to seeing what results I get out of it. Thanks so much for the great program and podcast content. Keep it coming! Absolutely the best training platform. Zwift might be fun but this will make you fast.
The app experiences frequent bugs, often requiring multiple close/open actions to restore responsiveness. Stuck toasts can disable the entire app, while changing a workout from indoor to outdoor disables the "save" option, and more.
