I’ve been using Trakt via other apps for several years (iShows, watcht) I think the Trakt app is now perfect. I love the new logo & visuals as well. One of my most used apps by far.
I loved the recommendations feature and generally how this app enables me to find any movie I’m looking for within seconds, due to aggregating so much data cross platforms and streaming services! The past part? Once I find the right movie, Trakt redirects me to straight to my streaming service to watch it. Trakt really saves me time and more!
I have no idea why anyone would want an app like this, or at least I didn’t until I found the one good use for it, and that is syncing it up with Kodi so you can have your watchlists of movies and tv shows in a nice convenient place for easy access. So I would have given it a good review purely for this, except after adding a bunch of movies to my watchlist, I’m now told that I’ve reached the limit and have to pay anywhere from £35 to £70 (!!!!) a year to be allowed to have larger lists. Sorry but that is absolutely ridiculous. It’s literally just a list making app. I’m obviously not paying that and never will. Had you made it instead be a one time payment of say… £5, then I might have done it, but you are being ridiculously greedy. Also the app is slow and sluggish. Just not good at all 👎
App is a pain to use. Has to think about everything for a good while before anything updates
This app is great but having to open the website to refresh the data for a show is a downside. When you have a app but still have to go to the website then might as well not use the app at all.
As an app/service it's not bad. It's great for tracking your own viewing numbers and there's some interesting stats on the year in review. It's lousy for discovery. There's nothing "smart" for example figuring out that because I liked X & Y that I might also like Z. You can see globally recommended shows but nothing recommended specifically for you. Even when looking at your favourite shows there's no "people who liked this also liked..." Just a bunch of "lists" that people have added this show to. So the recommendations are dumb as opposed to smart and nothing is specific to you. It's got a lot of potential but it's a bit of a letdown. Year in review is interesting but it's bewildering that the developers prioritise past viewing stats over future viewing recommendations and I think they've got their priorities wrong in this regard.
Generally looks nice but the UI is unnecessarily convoluted and uninviting to use. I’m used to a competitor app which is much better thought out, but this is integrated into Stremio which is why I’m using it. Frustrated with it so far but seems to be doing the job on the whole. It’s one of those apps you have to learn how to use rather than it guiding you around.
Used to track most of my watch history, doesn’t work any more. 1 star until fixed!
