## TREAD Map Description
TREAD Map is the perfect companion for those looking to recreate outdoors in the State of Washington. Want to find a trail with fewer crowds? Looking for dog-friendly options? The TREAD Map has you covered. The official outdoor recreation app from State of Washington Tourism, brought to you in partnership with TREAD consulting and Dharma Maps.

Why TREAD Map?

TREAD Map is a hyper-local trail mapping app built by outdoor enthusiasts in Washington State who understand what users want to know. Is a tree down on the trail? Is the parking lot full? This app delivers real-time updates that alert users to current conditions. It also equips outdoor enthusiasts to:

Plan outings

Learn about alternative destinations when parking lots are full, or trails are too crowded.

Access and provide up-to date trail conditions.

Post trip reports, photos, and videos

Share local experiences including nearby restaurants, bars and shops.

Connect with other trail enthusiasts.

Explore outdoor activities in all seasons.

The hyper-local content in the TREAD Map is provided by those who are out on the trails and waterways or managing the land. It’s built for trail users by trail users and includes four-season, real-time updates.

Help maintain and improve trails

TREAD Map is informed by local land managers and allows users to share observations with land managers. That means when you post to TREAD Talk, you’re providing important information to the people who can help!

## TREAD Map Reviews in United States

### *---- "Abandoned"

-- Blue Zork, 2026-02-23

### *---- "Doesn’t work"
Open the app and it just shows the logo and nothing else.
-- Mtnlvr00, 2025-05-06

### *---- "App does not work"
App opens and sits on main screen indefinitely.
-- Tom Dancs, 2025-04-26

### *---- "Won’t load"
App just hangs on the initial logo launch screen. Doesn’t work otherwise.
-- Todd, 2025-04-15

### *---- "Can’t make it work at all…"
Is there a trick to getting this app to function on an iPhone 15 pro? I have installed and deleted and restarted my phone several times and still all I get is the opening TREAD black title page. Nothing else happens just the black screen with a title and a trail into mountains.

Was hoping to use this app while traveling Hwy 20 through northern cascades.
-- loumudd, 2024-07-19

### *---- "Won’t launch"
All I get it the logo when trying to open the app. It’s just bricked and does nothing. I just downloaded it and had to delete it.
-- Rhino625, 2024-06-07

### *---- "Never loads"
I just get the logo while I wait and wait and wait. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Still nothing.
-- CookieladyANP, 2024-04-04

### *---- "Um…what?"
I downloaded the app today at a trailhead. The opening screen is just the logo…and that’s as far as this app wants to go. I tried it again at home with internet…nope. The mystery as to what TREAD does continues.
-- Kingmedicine, 2024-03-31

### *---- "Not loading"
Stuck on splash screen. Support page and developer website displays web page error 503.
-- Pookyie, 2024-02-22

### *---- "Lacking & Overheats Phone"
This app is not only incredibly frustrating to use, it also makes my phone heat up to the point that it’s very hot to the touch. As soon as I stop this app, my phone starts cooling down. This happens even if it’s the only app I have open. It also provides little useful detail and makes it hard to find trails/destinations. I’ve tried it several times, including after updating the app. This app will immediately be removed from my phone.
