TurboTax FAQ
Is TurboTax free?
Yes, TurboTax is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is TurboTax legit?
🤔 The TurboTax app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
In the States TurboTax has actually got in trouble for false advertising- puzzling how they’re still able to do this in Canada.
There is no such thing as a free tax return with them for MOST people, but you only find that out after you enter a ton of information and spend a lot of time.
Had to pay for a self-employed version which was $65- even though I was a full time employee because I didn’t have capital losses to report? Makes no sense.
Go anywhere but here
Horrible!
This is probably the worst app I’ve ever used. Every two minutes it signed me out and asked me to sign back in and enter codes into both my phone and email. This takes like five minutes to do each time and then after two minutes and asked me to do it again. like 20 times in 30 minutes I am using an iPhone and this is absolutely the most ridiculous thing that I’ve seen on iPhone!!!! One of the most frustrating things in my life I want to smash this app and my phone. .
WONT USE AGAIN
It was super easy to use. Everything was going great but kept getting a error message on filing until I paid for one of their services. I did, and then all of a sudden with no help from them, magically it went through. If you have to pay for it just tell me upfront nonsense I hate being lied to
Forced to upgrade
I’ve used turbo tax many years. Last year I had rental income. This year I did not. This year I was unable to file until I upgraded to “self employed” version for an extra $20 because “rental income” which I did not have. Unnecessary up charge at the very end of filing. Costs need to be more transparent.
Medical receipt claims not included with basic
Was misleading when basic free was not able to claim medical expenses, and had to upgrade to a pay version
Very expensive, and was good when they finally called me back
I requested for assistance on my screen they advised I would get a call back in 22 minutes. The call never came.
So I struggled for one more day,Trying to work out my returns by myself. Was getting in a panic that I wouldn’t get it done before the deadline.
It keep offering me assistance and it would be at a cost 400.00 dollars.
I finally agreed to the $400 charge as I was running out of time to get my returns in. I waited for a call which came quite quickly. (3 minutes)
The gentleman who had assisted me was very kind, and his name was Kaavish. With his assistance I was able to complete my returns and get them off to Cra.
I’m sure I miss out on something because I was worried about getting this completed before the tax deadline but just wanted to get this done.
I don’t usually give a bad reviews. ( usually bit my tongue)Don’t say a word, not my way, but this one just bothered me.
Upsold me for no reason
Called me and hung up 4 times, twice in the middle of the night. Then they said I needed the most expensive to claim a deduction then said I couldn’t. Fraud!!!!!
