## UIC SAFE Description
UIC SAFE is the official safety app of University of Illinois at Chicago. It is the only app that integrates with UIC's safety and security systems. The Office of Preparedness and Response, along with the Office of Public and Government Affairs, and the UIC Police Department, have worked to develop a new mobile application that provides students, faculty and staff with added safety on the University of Illinois at Chicago campus.  

The new app is just one part of a number of strategies being implemented to enhance public safety and emergency preparedness on- and off-campus. The apps user-friendly interface allows users to easily connect and share their location with family and friends in real-time as they walk and report information to UIC Police, anonymously if needed.

UIC SAFE features include:

-Emergency call button: contact UIC Police quickly for help in an emergency.

-Friend Walk: Send your location to a friend, who can watch you walk home in real-time.

-Safety notifications: receive instant notifications, emergency UIC ALERTs, and instructions when on-campus emergencies occur.

-Chat with UIC Police: Communicate live with a UIC Police officer via chat.

-Emergency Contacts: Contact the correct services for the UIC area in case of an emergency or a non-emergency concern.

-Tip Reporting: Multiple ways to report a safety/security concern directly to UIC Police.

-Emergency Preparedness Protractive Measures: Learn what to do in case of an emergency.

-Campus safety resources: access all important safety resources and student and employee services.

Put in user name and password and jumped to the page saying now you are logged in but there’s an error please log out then log in again. However it doesn’t even let me log in again, keeps jumping back to this error page nonstop.

This doesn’t help anyone; not faculty, staff, nor students. Emergency Response doesn’t have anything to do with covid response, that’s the safety office. Emergency Response doesn’t have anything to do with protecting students, that’s the police. What exactly does Emergency Response do? Aside from an app that helps guide you to a department that actually helps the UIC community? This app is garbage.

Would be great if others from the community could use this app, even if they don’t have a direct UIC connection. As someone who lives right across the street from UIC, I would also like to be able to access emergency alerts. I also think it would be beneficial to report suspicious activity and other threats directly to UIC should they occur.

The work alone feature gives my loved ones peace of mind when I’m, working by myself at the studio.

Ever since I downloaded this app last week, I open it when I have to walk to my car after dark. The emergency button is like the campus blue light kiosks — it can send an emergency call to police with your location.

There have been several updates to this app since it’s initial rollout. Like any other app in the App Store, these updates fix bugs or errors when they are identified. Frequency of updates is consistent with other apps. I have not experienced any issues with the app personally, but am aware that others on campus have. Many campuses across the country use this application - it provides a valuable service towards campus safety!
