Description
The UK Immigration: ID Check app lets you confirm your identity online as part of a visa application.
If you use this app, you will not have to attend an appointment to confirm your identity.
Who can use the app
• EU, European Economic Area (EEA) and Swiss citizens
• British national (overseas) visa (BNO) applicants who have a BNO or Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) passport
• Graduate visa applicants who have a UK biometric residence permit (BRP)
Before you start
You must follow the steps in the online application form before using the app.
You will need to be in a well-lit area, so you can take a good quality photograph of yourself.
You will need either:
• a biometric residence permit (BRP) - if you’re applying for a graduate visa and are not from the EU, European Economic Area (EEA) or a Swiss citizen, you must use your BRP
• a passport that has a chip (also called a ‘biometric passport’)
You need to use:
• an iPhone 7 or newer
• iOS 15 or later
How it works
1. Take a photo of your identity document.
2. Access the chip in your identity document using your phone.
3. Scan your face using the camera on your phone.
4. Take a photo of yourself for your digital status.
What happens next
The app only helps confirm your identity. You must still complete the rest of your application. We will tell you how to do this when you finish using the app.
Privacy and security
The app is safe and secure. Your personal information will not be stored in the app or on the phone when you finish using it.

I seriously did not move my phone trust me 😂
NFC scanning Capabilities
First and foremost its great step ..Really glad :) But It has low almost no capabilities to scan via Iphone. I tried with iphone multiple devices iPhone 7, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 pro. Its does not work at all very frustrating. Please fix it asap would be great. I talked dozes of students every one facing same issue :(
Does not recognize the chip
Stupid app… doesn’t work… tried with multiple phones…Don’t know it’s app or the chip
Absolutely Crap
I have had absolutely the same issue as mentioned by other reviewers. The App couldn’t scan the chip of my BRP and kept giving me the message “Phone or document moved whilst accessing the chip.” I tried 4 different phones and had the same issue while both the BRP and Phone were placed on the table. This app wasted my entire week and now I will have to apply the visa the other way, right from the scratch with such tight deadline! Pleaseeeee fix this apppp. You cannot waste our energies and time like that!
Cr***y app
The app is sh**. Tried both sides of the BRP card but it is not finding the chip. It asks to move the phone and when you move out, your app says device moved so chip couldn't be found. Why create an app when it is this useless and there's absolutely no use of the contact for help option. All your staff are busy due to COVID 19!? Cannot even give one star but I won't be able to submit this review unless I rate it. If there was another rating system where I can give 'Very Poor' I would have chosen that. One star means Very Poor.
Unable to scan BRP chip
A good initiative in this pandemic era where you don’t have to go to Immigration Office for your visa but the app should work correctly to make this happen. Every time while scanning the BRP chip error message pops up saying Mobile camera or document moved whilst scanning but I have kept both my card and camera still on the table while scanning, not once, not twice, but multiple times and after few attempts the profile gets locked out for 24 hours. It’s so frustrating to go again and again with the same thing and getting error messages every time. Please increase the scanning ability of the app considerably to make the app useful.
Works fine
Notified poor review for this app, but it worked well for me. Maybe they have fixed all the bugs now.
Waste a lot of time
Stay loading when I try to open the camera
Hire some talented people to code this
The app only provides connection code or scan codes and CANNOT DO ANYTHING ELSE. What a loss of time and annoyance!!!
