The app is good but the other/original roku app is way more helpful and useful than this app. to use the microphone and the keyboard you need a subscription, while on the other app they’re free. You can’t press the pause button, refresh button, recently opened app, nor the * button without, yet again, being met with a subscription. While all of these are free on the original roku app. For them to make you have a subscription to use the microphone is reasonable, but to not be able to manually pause or use the * button without being told to buy a $26 per month subscription is a little unusual and an unreasonable buy when you can get these same remote with a microphone and keyboard for free.

Good grief people. The remote works okay, but they REALLY try to sell you on a subscription. It isn’t clear that you don’t need the subscription either unless you want features like a keyboard. If they just sold the app with no ads for a few bucks, it might be worth it, but the subscription thing is nonsense.

I love how user-friendly it is. No complicated instructions or frustrating delays. It made the whole process so much smoother, and I can’t believe I ever relied on a physical remote. I don’t usually write reviews because I’m a bit lazy, but this app is so good that I felt I should give the developers some encouragement and help others discover it. My remote always seems to run out of batteries right when I need it, and I don’t have any replacements on hand. It’s such a hassle to trek all the way to the grocery store for batteries! As a lazy person, I really need a remote that’s always powered up, and my phone is the perfect solution. I chose this app out of many for a few reasons: first, the UI is really easy on the eyes; second, it has extra screen mirroring features; and third, the basic remote functions are free. Plus, I’ve found it works with a lot of different brands. Love how it works on both my Samsung in the living room and the old Sony in the basement. Finally, one remote to rule them all!
