I’m not a fan of the updated VF ap. The old one was wayyyy better. Easy to navigate and read. You could tap a article heading on the front cover and it would take you straight to the article.. this format is hopeless, the page numbers in the drop down box don’t align to the page numbers in the articles and the layout of the pages makes it hard to read on an iPad as you keep having to move it around. Not sure how any one or the developers thought this version was an improvement... I use it minimally and only if I’m desperate to read something 🤬

As far as magazine apps go, VF was fantastic, so much interactivity. Twitter feeds embedded, interactive diagrams, fantastic user centred design at work! I’d been a long term print subscriber and switched to the digital edition and loved it.
Then... what happened? Since March 2018 it’s like the work experience kid put the print edition on the scanner and they published that! Gone are the accessible features, scrolling is a nightmare and even trying to zoom to read it is cumbersome. Along with a completely unnecessary masthead and cover rethink, the app is awful. Is it analog cool? It’s cover to cover stupid design decisions and I have cancelled my subscription.

Reading Vanity Fair via the reading app used to be a pleasure. Now the experience is so woeful I doubt I’ll renew, the first break in my subscription for over 30 years. I wish they would explain themselves. The New Yorker, also a Conde Nast publication, is a fantastic reading app, kind of like - oh yeah - the VF one used to be.

I have been a subscriber for 15 years. Am going to cancel my subscription as the mobile experience is terrible. Navigation awful and too hard to read. I’ll go back to buying the occasional print copy. Such a shame when the writing is so good.

If you really cared about the feedback since app update you would have the courtesy to reply.

Says a lot about where priorities lie which is fine but if New Yorker and Vogue can produce a great experience across a number of platforms your strategy makes little sense. 

Would be nice if a dev could reply with some answers. Now seriously considering ditching subscription. 

I’ve been a happy digital subscriber since day one. This new version is testing my patience. “Turning”pages is clunkier. The transition from page to page is not visually smooth. The font size is smaller so harder to read. Overall it doesn’t work like a coherent well executed experience. Get better soon.
