Not enjoying this at all. The erratic nature of the “Range” is quite the spectacle, from 38 miles to 28 miles in a mile & a half, down to 18 miles after a 4 mile work trip. The app will adjust slightly once the bike rests but is this just the life of anyone that owns an electric vehicle? Car or otherwise? You have to give it your best guess “because it’s a battery” & the app cannot keep up with its irregularities. Or can Vanmoof improve the experience? The constant reminder asking me to “Set up Apple Find My” every time I turn on the app is annoying. If I dismiss it, can the app not understand that I don’t want to use it? Notifications (if at all) arrive a day or two after. Can we either improve the map/GPS so it’s functional or just get rid of it? It could be I expect too much. Paying a lot of money for the Vanmoof experience I thought would ensure a quality app but sadly I’m left wishing I had taken other options at this time. The VanMoof is truly a bike that is ahead of the competition. It’s fun, sleek, quick and a real eye catcher. I’ve had many people come up to me interested in learning more about it. I’ve had my S3 for over a year now and it has been great. No major issues or concerns. However, I would like more frequent updates to the software. There’s so much potential and it would be great for new features to be released every so often. VanMoof seems to only focus on their newest bikes and looses focus of their previous bikes. Also, their bike hunters channel on YouTube is so fun to watch but for some reason they don’t make them anymore, bummer. If you’re thinking about getting a VanMoof, just do it. I spent weeks contemplating on it because of the negative reviews and one day I decided to go for it. Best decision I made thus far! They have a trial period, so go for it! The Lock Screen widgets and Apple Watch integration are nice touches. What doesn’t work: 1. Apple Find My is so unreliable (can show past location of bike and say you left it behind while you are riding). Find My sound also doesn’t work. 2. Unlock worked flawlessly until something changed with last firmware update (6/23). Now sometimes the bike won’t unlock and takes some minutes to keep trying. Feature Request: 1. Show the assist level permanently in the display while riding instead of only when changing it. 2. Integrate with Apple Maps or Google Maps for native navigation in the app. Using the nav apps independently loses display of battery level, speed, etc. so not as good. 3. However and unfortunately, I still have to use a regular lock as well for a “secured” look most of the time and I believe many people do the same. This way a little problem arises when you come back to continue voofing around - it is sketchy to not bother the alarm (You could seen a meme with Tom Cruise from r/Vanmoof haha). Today my head visited a thought what if I have Touch Unlock on, it would be really helpful to turn off the alarm as the bike detects my phone, keeping the Kick-lock until a rider presses a button. Needless to say, if button wasn’t pressed, turn on the alarm again. I know it’s possible to unlock the Kick-lock first by lifting the rear wheel but in my opinion it is very unnatural.
