As I shoot landscapes with prime lenses I find this app indispensable It’s also a very useful way of recording potential locations with the bonus of knowing what focal length lenses to pack. Only improvement I can think of is the addition of recording the coordinates of the location
Really well designed app which is great for using with vintage film cameras.
In Ani, Eastern Anatolia recently I saw two youngsters having great fun with just an iPhone and a light but sturdy tripod shooting ancient monuments - no heavy camera backpacks, skipping around with gay abandon. That set me thinking.... Since then I have been using “Viewfinder” as the main app to capture architecture shots at various distances (using “ObjectHeight” app) and focal lengths and having great fun playing around with height of subjects, distance away, focal length and avoidance of non-vertical verticals. no heavy bags... no tilt shift lenses. Landscape perspective is next on the list. If you think about it, a lot of our shots don't need anything more than jpegs - maybe only x1-2 need larger cameras. Even Paul Reiffer, Capture One Ambassador, admits to using his iPhone more than Canon or Phase One cameras. I am happily using an iPhone5S and the jpegs allow easy annotation from the gallery view option which goes way beyond EXIF data in terms of recording useful info at the time. Down side is you cannot download comments to a desktop. My workaround is images are stored in Photos, and you can look at images on a Desktop and your comments on the iPhone. Not sure how M1 allowing iPhone apps to run works out here. An unknown for me - Apple RAW not sure if Viewfinder on iPhone 13 works with this app? In summary, Viewfinder takes iPhones beyond a simple point and shoot alternatives to Compact cameras and into the realms of interchangeable lens cameras. Finally, please keep it up to date, otherwise Apple will cull it.
I've used Viewfinder for a few years now, mainly with pinhole cameras. This app is perfect for framing and exposure calculation, you can even factor in filter compensations. My only suggestion for improvement would be the ability to set up and save a number of camera 'profiles', whereby the settings such as aperture, aspect ratio, frame size, iso etc can be saved to a dedicated slot? Extremely useful when switching from one camera to another. I'd love to see this feature in future updates. Thanks
Very useful tool, which it does without a fuss. Support for the telephoto lens would be nice but not estential
Great app that makes recording meta data for film an absolute doddle . Just wish I could select f/3.5 as an aperture , I couldn’t find any way of editing the apertures .
Absolutely worth the money.
Fantastic and useful app, thank you. Is it possible to embed the focal length, camera, shutter and aperture info as text on the saved image itself for review in other apps, eg the photo gallery?
As a photographer this is a great app doing exactly what is needed. I don't often leave reviews but I feel I have to due to the very quick and excellent communication with the developer. I noticed a small issue which I emailed to them. I got a reply straight away and it was fixed within 24 hours. Truly excellent.
