Vigil is designed to form a disciplined, Scripture-centered prayer life rooted in the practice of the early Church and the monastic tradition. At the heart of Vigil is the ancient monastic rhythm of prayer: the Psalms prayed in one week and the whole of Sacred Scripture read in one year. “Because monks show great sloth in their devotional service if they recite less in the course of a week than the Psalter with the accustomed canticles, seeing that we read our holy fathers strenuously accomplished in one day this which, oh, that we tepid ones may fulfill in a whole week!” — St. Benedict of Nursia, Rule of St. Benedict, Chapter 18 FEATURES • Daily Offices with Vigils, following both Benedictine and Carthusian forms of the Divine Office. There is also the traditional Breviary from Divinum Officium, bundled and fully offline, assembled for each day of the liturgical year in the Roman, Monastic (OSB), Cistercian, and Dominican uses. • The traditional Latin Mass reader, so the whole of the day's worship can be prayed in one place. • Search across Scripture and prayers. AI meaning search finds passages by meaning, not wording. The model runs on your device, so your searches stay on your phone and work offline. • The Liturgy of the Hours is structured to pray through the entire Bible in one year and the Psalms in one week. • Scripture access with multiple Bible translations. The Divine Office also allows translation selection. • Learn traditional Latin prayers and Psalms. • Early Church commentaries from the Fathers, allowing Scripture to be read and prayed as it was received and taught in the early centuries of Christianity. • A home screen with monastic quotes and daily scripture readings that notifies you every day. • Split Bible view to read two translations side by side. • Meditation timer with custom sounds that continue playing, even when your phone is off. • Custom notifications to set personalized prayer reminders with peaceful, sacred sounds. • Completely offline with no tracking.
