Description
Vinegar is a Safari extension that replaces the YouTube player with a minimal HTML video tag.
It removes ads, restores picture-in-picture, and allows videos to play in the background when set to audio-only quality.
Note: The phrase 'can read and alter webpages' in the permissions section is just an unfortunate choice of words. Vinegar needs access to the webpage to find the YouTube player and replace it. It's not doing anything creepy!
(Also, do check out Vinegar's companion app, Baking Soda. It's essentially a less powerful version of Vinegar, but it works on all websites except YouTube.)

So yeah, you can’t (at least I haven’t found out how to) change video quality to 4K. But the ability to watch videos uninterruptedly makes up for that big time! On my iPhone I never experience issues, but once in a while on my iPad I have to reload a YT page. This happens mostly in playlists.
heel slecht, werk niet, weggegooid geld
Grote teleurstelling. Het werkt averechts. Er is met Vinegar meer reclame! Bovendien kun je met Vinegar het geluid van de reclame niet meer uitzetten, wat het nog erger maakt. Extra vervelend is dat je met Vinegar de You Tube film niet meer kan redigeren, je kunt hem niet meer full screen zetten, niet meer pauzeren, niets. Vervolgens kun je Vinegar niet meer verwijderen, want die button werkt niet. Kortom, weggegooid geld en extra frustratie.

I noticed vinegar extract does not allow me to adjust the video quality.
The BEST!
Works perfectly! Saves me around 190 Euro a year! Video quality is perfect and no stutters here at all ( iPhone 14 Pro Max ) VERRY HAPPY with his app 💪😀

Only an occasional stutter in the video reminding you there would normally be a commercial. :-)
Definitely a good app
Definitely a good app, but does sometimes have a few issues. Though it saves a lot of annoyance with video playback from YouTube so I would still recommend!
Very good app but..
I very often get a youtube video that automatically starts over again after a few seconds, it keeps doing that. In the top left corner it shows “fallback”. This is very annoying, could you fix this?
Awesome, makes Youtube great again
Removes ads from youtube in safari browser. First use instructions for mac could be better, only found out after installing it on my IOS device that you need to force quit the browser.
