Description
Vinegar is a Safari extension that replaces the YouTube player with a minimal HTML video tag.
It removes ads, restores picture-in-picture, and allows videos to play in the background when set to audio-only quality.
Note: The phrase 'can read and alter webpages' in the permissions section is just an unfortunate choice of words. Vinegar needs access to the webpage to find the YouTube player and replace it. It's not doing anything creepy!
(Also, do check out Vinegar's companion app, Baking Soda. It's essentially a less powerful version of Vinegar, but it works on all websites except YouTube.)

Issue
I’m having issues with vinegar on the new iPad air. When I delete all cookies, it works again for a while. But then I get the “adblockers violate yt guidelines” thing. Please fix!

Die App, die jeder kaufen soll der gerne Youtube schaut!
Ich habe dank dieser App viel Zeit gespart, da ich keine Werbung sehe. Nutze Youtube nur noch mit dieser app in Safari. Es funktioniert auch immer noch ohne Probleme auch mit dem neuen Adblocker-Blocker von Youtube. Auch Bild in Bild und Audio als Hintergrundwiedergabe funktioniert (einfach Play erneut im Kontrollmenü drucker). Kann auch via AirPlay die Videos streamen and en Apple TV um audh da ohne Werbung Youtube zu schauen. Warum Youtube Premium, wenn es eine Variante gibt wofür man einmalig zahlt. Kann auch Kombi mit Baking Soda empfehlen. Der Native Player ist meist viel besser.

Since Dec '23 I don't have the bar on the video to choose the quality or the "Loop" funtion.
Works great
Does exactly what it says. Works perfectly, on both Mac and iOS.
Its alright
Great app but sadly has a few issues, video player sometimes doesnt load (only blurred in background with no elements) and the size bar element atop the player persistently appears despite turning the option off.
Great app does not work anymore
Sadly, youtube has this new policy against ad blockers, and this great app does not work anymore :(
Simply perfect
Removes YouTube ads, enables picture in picture. What more do you need? Best 2€ I've ever spent in my life.
