Virgin Active UK Reviews

The app is very poor due to it not regularly recording all my gym visits. Also my overall points are at silver level yet I’m still on bronze In the app. I hate this app

Love the gym the classes the pool and all the facilities

New app is messy

bella3103 on

United Kingdom

The new app doesn’t prioritise the features you use the most e.g timetable and bookings. The app is very busy and overloaded with features you don’t need and it’s hard to use. The background with instructors and people also makes it difficult to see the features

The update is truly awful

bondanna49 on

United Kingdom

The updated app has the worst UX I’ve ever seen. It’s hard to believe it’s by a huge company and not an amateur. What was wrong with the old app? You could clearly see what classes you had on immediately, it synced to your calendar, and booking a class was simple. The new app is a clunky nightmare and with the weird pictures of random people smiling everywhere it feels more like an advertisement than a functional app. I already go to this gym, why are you advertising it to me? The app alone is making me despise this whole ‘wellness weapon’ initiative. It’s just terrible. Please listen to your customers and undo it, go back to the old app before you lose clientele

New app embarrassingly BAD

Lightyearlauren on

The 4.1.1. update has made very little difference. The building blocks to the app are severely and fundamentally flawed, to the point that the phrase “polishing a ****” rings true. I’m so fed up with not being able to clearly and easily see and book classes. Terrible stock images everywhere (I can’t bear their faces now). “Rewards” don’t work. I’m supposedly a silver member but none of the “silver” “rewards” are unlocked. No one in club knows what to do. Emailing then gets the same standard response if we are trying to fix this, but it’s been MONTHS now. Sometimes my classes don’t register on the app. What an absolute mess. I’ve stopped using the app and now just use the website, not ideal at all. No one in club I’ve spoken to has a positive word to say. If I had the option I’d give this app 0 stars!! It’s so very bad, in fact the worst app I’ve ever used. Desperate for the old app to be reinstated, the new one is ruining my user experience of Virgin Active. 😔

This app is terrible. There is no point describing what is wrong with it because everyone has said it before and nothing gets done about it!! All that happens is the developer responds is that improvements have been made!! Can’t believe that whoever was responsible for the UX / design / user testing final sign off on the app can’t see the glaring issues with this terrible app. The old app wasn’t the best or the most dynamic but it worked and was easy to navigate and was clear. Rant over :(

Doesn’t log visits

bill071616 on

United Kingdom

I got to Virgin to get the rewards and money off my health insurance. The app never logs my visits. I regularly visit 4 times a week and it never logs more than 1 or 2 visits, I suspect it’s so that they don’t have to uphold their rewards promise. Will leave VA and find another gym if doesn’t get sorted soon.

Fed up

Keeps going downhill on

United Kingdom

Rating: Minus -10 The worst app I have ever used. Work of an amateur trying to set up an app for the first time. Doesn’t let me cancel a booking. Visits are never recorded. Virgin seems to have a lot of extra money and doesn’t know what to do with it.

Rubbish

This app is useless and not fit for purpose

Horrendous “update”

Ana Romanov on

United Kingdom

Obviously Virgin Active believed that this app will be a fantastic upgrade that will “gamify” the experience of going to the gym. And I kind of believed so too. But so far this new app has been nothing but a total disappointment. Confusing interface, missing club visits, and it crashes pretty often. So many people I talked to have same issues with this app. It is really disappointing that a good idea was implemented so poorly.
