Pro: - Able to collect Virgin Red rewards for flights, cruises, free tickets etc. - The split ticketing feature actually works well compared to others. Quite often (not guaranteed) that I get the same seat reservation for the whole trip. Something a lot of competitors struggle with. - No booking fees Issues: - Unable to bulk book tickets. Meaning that when I book my next month of commuter trips I have to book individually. - If I change the day on outbound, the return time resets to 1 hour after outbound. Just makes it an annoyance when I’m looking to book multiple tickets for same time across multiple days. - No web portal available to use on the computer. - I’ve seen at times certain train times disappear from the list as I move towards earlier or later. Something I can fix by going back to search and look at timing. - Rare issue but be good to flag before purchase if I have to collect tickets from a different station because no machines operate at station. I had rebooked a new train within a matter of minutes and have been messed around by arrogant, ignorant and rude staff who can’t be bothered to do their job in trying to pursue a simple refund. Shame on you. -- boywonder218, 2023-11-25 ### **--- "Points in lieu of a decent app" Occasionally use the Virgin Train Ticketing app because you get points (56 days after ticket expiry) that may be useful in the future. However, the app is awful. It’s not nearly on par with its being rival. Every time I load it the search details are reset. I’m almost always travelling from the same station and so having to go and put it in, and the destination is a pain. Also the fact it resets the type of ticket I usually purchase (open return) and removes my railcard resulting in each search being much harder than other apps. The biggest annoyance that takes me to a different app is that often it says eTickets are not available on this route and the tickets must be collected. I move my search to a competing app and within seconds the tickets are in my Apple Wallet.
