Excellent
Ignore the negative reviews with fringe case issues. It's a great player that works well for x265 playback. Has many controls for subtitles, preamp volume control for boosting low volume files, and on screen brightness and audio control.

- deselects selected files when music or media changes (on my case deselects selected music when music changes to another) - 16:9 Album cover on the current media preview bar gets stretched to 1:1 and looks bad would want it to be cropped into 1:1 instead and positioned on the center or show full 16:9 or other aspect ratio - changing songs randomly changes eq or resets to default
Watch from iPhone is fine but casting won’t work with subtitles. Sad 😔
No clear instructions on how to use this app. Multiple options with no clear direction. Completely useless space waster. Don’t bother with it.
I’m getting weird behaviour with the latest update. Almost all videos start playing with the audio track disabled and 50% of audio files play without sound. VLC version: 3.6.3 (363) iOS version: 17.6.1 UPDATE: couple hours later a new VLC update appears. Installed it and everything is perfect again. Thank you developers ☺️
Airplay to Apple TV only gives audio. No video.
Pretty good but where did the output device button go?!!
When I play the movie in the ipadOS Files app, I get spatial audio. When I play the same file in VLC I get only Stereo. When I pause and press play again, I loose 1-2 sec of audio every time. So I have to go 10sec back each time I pause and unpause.
There are aspects where it can do better. E.g. I'm using it for listening my collection of audio books in mp3 format. Or paying short exercise videos download from the Net. For playing audio, I have to have my display unlock to be able to play next mp3 file, otherwise I get Playback failed after one track finish. Do I have to unlock my iPhone to continue listening. I wish I can say from where it stop, but it can't even keep track what it has played already and what it didn't. I hope developers can fix it at some stage. Actually, I tried to contact developer support, report a bug, but the price of doing so is so hostile I gave it up (had to register there first, option was to use github, but once I provided github account it declined it saying I need gitlab account first. Still didn't give up, and attempted to register a new gitlab account, but then I was refused to continue as my gitlab account needs to be approved first) Guys, you can do much better than that? Can't you? It is quite demotivating user experience, that I would think several times next time I'd like to provide any feedback, bugreport it suggestion for enhancement.
It just works.
