No way to easily select audio track
Irrational UI choices. You can easily select a different rendering filter while watching a video (like you ever would), for example, but if you want to choose, say, the English audio track instead of the Italian one, for example, you have to go into app advanced settings, then dig through, do some head scratching, and spend ages mucking around. Also when you can’t connect to a server, it just keeps throwing you back into the ‘connect to server’ details prompt endlessly, and it’s impossible to get back to the main window for just watching a video without restarting the app.
Airplay doesn’t show video
Airplay to Apple TV only gives audio. No video.
Grateful, however…
While I’m grateful for this app I’m noticing an increase of UI bugs. For instance I’ll scroll down on an albums list of songs, touch one (say Track 7), then a song from the album that wasn’t even visually touchable starts playing (say track 15). Or if I touch another song to play while one is already playing I lose all sound. Still love this app though. Hopefully these issues get resolved.
Breaking what wasn’t broken…
Pretty good but where did the output device button go?!!
No spatial audio on iPad no settings for that, audio lags
When I play the movie in the ipadOS Files app, I get spatial audio.
When I play the same file in VLC I get only Stereo.
When I pause and press play again, I loose 1-2 sec of audio every time. So I have to go 10sec back each time I pause and unpause.
The app is a good free style media player, but...
There are aspects where it can do better. E.g. I'm using it for listening my collection of audio books in mp3 format. Or paying short exercise videos download from the Net. For playing audio, I have to have my display unlock to be able to play next mp3 file, otherwise I get Playback failed after one track finish. Do I have to unlock my iPhone to continue listening. I wish I can say from where it stop, but it can't even keep track what it has played already and what it didn't. I hope developers can fix it at some stage. Actually, I tried to contact developer support, report a bug, but the price of doing so is so hostile I gave it up (had to register there first, option was to use github, but once I provided github account it declined it saying I need gitlab account first. Still didn't give up, and attempted to register a new gitlab account, but then I was refused to continue as my gitlab account needs to be approved first) Guys, you can do much better than that? Can't you? It is quite demotivating user experience, that I would think several times next time I'd like to provide any feedback, bugreport it suggestion for enhancement.
Simple and easy to use
It just works.
It just gets worse
Amongst everything else that is excruciatingly impossible about this application, the new update features a change to the subtitles/language listings – they are now white type on a white background, in other words, completely unreadable. Oh, and the button which used to close the playing window now simply minimises it. So how do you close it? Answer – you can’t. You have to either choose another video or exit the entire application. I mean, of course – why not make one of the most simple functions more complex, for no reason? How would we know that we had an update if totally decent functions weren’t ruined, to absolutely no perceptible benefit?
Casting problem
Good app to cast to chromcast but I have several chromcast tvs and the app doesn’t let me choose or have an option on what device I can cast to.
The OG cone
