VLC media player FAQ
Is VLC media player free?
Yes, VLC media player is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is VLC media player legit?
🤔 The VLC media player app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
The only word I can use for this app is awful. The layout is terrible. Track names side by side so you can see the track names, when importing from files the files decide to import some then more later so you don’t know what you’ve already put into playlists etc. No option to change the interface to be nicer to use. It’s just awful. I expected more after using VLC on Mac for decades. Deleted and won’t use again.
Videos not appearing
Bizarre thing of videos that were there are disappearing. I move files to vlc folder and then it disappears in a few hours
Really unfortunate
Great app, would love to keep it on my iPhone but three times now it’s started playing a track (continuing where it last left off) with no trigger at all and whilst not running in the background as far as I could tell. Whilst I was asleep, whilst on silent and watching tv. Unfortunately therefore I had to delete the app.

Developer replied: Did you try disabling the continue playback option in settings?
M: ok will reinstall and try sometime, but I agree it’s very odd behaviour and it is hard to understand how it would happen.
The best player by a mile
An average of 3.4/5 does not do justice to what is arguably the best video player available. I have yet to find a codec that does not work properly and for me this is what matters the most.
Audio
Whenever I listen back to an audio, it starts from the beginning. This is so annoying, especially when listening to podcasts.
No Picture in Picture
Plays media well but no Picture in Picture
One suggestion
Please allow viewing of subtitles for audio files
Great but does have issues
Have used this for a while now, but it has some issues that are a little annoying. I listen to audiobooks through the app and it will keep my place only sometimes. Often I’ll click to play the book I’m listening to and it starts from the beginning again. Another issue is that it doesn’t have the option to skip forward or back so many seconds like it used to, even though I have the option set in the settings.
Perfect <3
Easy to use, plays all my music perfectly literally no problem, no ads. Perfecttttt!!
I’d like to see a ‘most played’ sort of thing
Simply amazing
This has to be the best app I have on my phone. It just works. It’s fantastic. No need for rubbish Apple software just download videos and music and get away.
