How much does VSCO cost?
VSCO has several in-app purchases/subscriptions, the average in-app price is £18.49.
Hey so I’ve been using this app for a wee bit and I like it it’s beginner friendly for editing photos however some of the more social media features could be more intuitive and in general have less features be paid but still good overall 🙂↕️
Good app, but I have one issue.
Great mobile photo editing app, I’m happy with all the available presets and features, so no complaints with the app at its core.
However, the amount of in-app notifications is an issue for me. Every time I open VSCO I am bombarded with suggestions for presets, pro-features, etc. I know these notifications are intended to be helpful and can be simply dismissed, but it’s quite annoying that I’m greeted by them every time open the app or navigate to a different section of the app. I understand that notifications can be turned off outside of VSCO, but there needs to be an option in the in-app settings to turn off in-app notifications.
For this reason, I can only give 4 stars, but if improvements are made I’d be glad to give the full 5.
Scam
Tricked me into buying a pro membership when I thought I was signing up for a 7 day trail and then would not offer a refund. Scammers.
Buggy app
Can’t even import photos after the update. Like what?
Do not rely on this if you’re a videographer or content creator
I’m a content creator, videographer and photographer, and here’s why after 6+ years of using this, I’m cancelling my subscription:
- EXPORT QUALITY
Constant bugs aside, despite what VSCO tell you in their overzealous brand responses, videos are substantially reduced in quality. Once exported through vsco they are barely good enough for social media let alone anything else.
I flagged this to VSCO several times over the years, and every time I’m given the same response that either it’s my issue (it’s not) or that ‘they’ve taken onboard my feedback and will address it soon’. I’ve even sent over meta data for videos pre-import and post-export, screenshots, screen recordings and genuinely tried to provide them with as much info as possible to assist them in resolving the issue. What a waste of my time. This was YEARS ago. YEARS. The quality issue has never improved. At most I’ve used a couple of the exported videos on stories, but the rest get deleted and edited in other apps.
- APP BUGS
Most recently, the bugs have made this app virtually unusable. Even if you do want to try video editing in this, expect it to crash, the playback to run like a stop motion and if you’re lucky, all the adjustments sometimes disappear once you’ve gone back to home. Photos are just about bearable, although painfully slow, and exporting now has to be done one at a time otherwise it just never exports.
What used to take 3 minutes bulk exporting took me an excruciating hour last time, as I had to go back and forth between my photos to see that it either hadn’t exported, exported a few random ones in no particular order, or exported the same one 5 times. If you fancy a bonus task of working out what did and didn’t export, deleting duplicates and easily getting into a filing mess in the process - this is the app for you.
- PRESETS AND EDITING
The presets are great though, that really is the only thing VSCO has going for it but even that’s losing value as more apps pop up delivering similar with better performance.
Actual editing however is extremely basic and an app that markets it self to professionals via a subscription would have at least introduced some more tools in the last 5 years. And no, I’m not including that awful ‘remove’ tool that’s been in beta mode for over a year and will only make your photos worse. Honestly, if simple, free face editing apps can nail a healing tool, VSCO should be able to quite easily.
- OVERALL
If you’re a content creator or SMM
Horrible
Used to own this app, i used it for edits like slow mos now i re-downloaded it just popped up spamming me to subscribe and stuff
All about getting your personal details
You can’t even test this app to see if it has the functionality that you need or if does what it says. You are pushed to signup and create an account with all your details, then afterwards, everything is behind a paywall. You can’t even do basic video editing or even see what the options to edit video is like can it crop my video which is fairly basic but I don’t know because you can’t do anything in this crappy app unless you pay for pro straight up.
Why does it keep not registering my pro status
I’ve used VSCO Pro on and off for years as a subscriber. Beginning of June it would t work and wanted me to “try 7 days of pro free”. Thought it was strange so I signed out and back in again. Lost my saved presets. Now I open the app again and again it’s not working and asking me if I want to try 7 days free. Super annoying
Disgusting
As many others i find that many of the filters I PAID for years ago been removed and if i want to use i have to pay again. Vsco ure disgusting . Deleting the app
What happened to VSCO :(
Used to use this app for years, loved editing my pictures on there and paid for pretty much the whole bundle of filters back in the day. So disappointed to now find that a lot of the filters (that I previously paid for) have been blocked??? and I can only use it if I pay for a subscription? This is ridiculous. So disappointed at the greed and what this app has become
