No plans available, app unusable
I was excited to try this app, hoping it would guide me on managing multiple sclerosis through diet, with clear advice on good and bad foods. However, the $15 monthly subscription feels exorbitantly priced, especially for those of us managing a chronic condition on a budget. It’s deeply disappointing because Dr. Terry Wahls claims to want to help everyone with MS, yet this steep cost excludes many who desperately need accessible resources. The app’s content may be valuable, but the high price feels like a betrayal of its purpose, making it seem more like a profit-driven venture than a genuine effort to support the MS community. I can’t justify the cost and feel let down by an app that prioritizes revenue over affordability for those it aims to serve.
I’m a little surprised that such a great book and protocol would be followed by or attached to this kind of experience/app. After all the setting up it flashes “No Plans Available At The Moment”. Very disappointing 😕
What a disappointment. I started the Wahls Protocol a week ago. For $15/month, I expected an app like this to allow me to have a database of foods that I could check to be sure they’re within plan and a food diary to log what I’m eating and make sure that I’m hitting targets for a day. Instead it’s only about the recipes. I could only plan when to eat and shop for the recipes in the app. Useless as a subscription and insanely overpriced. Canceled.
The recipes are amazing. There are errors in the recipes. One described hardboiling an egg, but there was no egg in the ingredients. My biggest issue is the inability to add foods. While there are some single foods, it is missing a lot. For instance, I had a plain sweet potato. I couldn’t add it because it did not come up on a search. There are tons of sweet potato recipes, but you should be able to add a plain sweet potato. That is just one example. I couldn’t add just liver either. Basically, if you don’t use the recipes in the app, you can’t track.
I have looked at several breakfast recipes. The often contain bananas which are not encouraged on the Wahls diet and are only to eaten after all the other nine cups of vegetables and fruit. Also, I number of recipes contain oats. The book indicated that they are not allowed. I’m canceling my subscription. Not worth almost $40 for 3 months.
This app is listed as free, with in-app purchases, but you literally can’t even do anything more than watch the intro and set up an account before you have to pay for a subscription. Nothing about it is free.
I have been trying to cancel this subscription for 3 weeks. I’ve left voice mails, emails, support mails and now this. PLEASE cancel my subscription effective 3/31/23. You will see I have not used it since that time. Thank you!
App seems ok, only been using a few days. Only wish recipes would specifically state which Wahls level it is, this would be much easier to find what you need quickly. Such as grits is not at all Wahls level 3.
After going through the app there is a lot of similarities between the nutritional lifestyle that I currently have. Due to how my metabolism works, I focus on the net carbs in a meal or dish. Since this app only lists the total apps in the quick view, I had to go to the full nutrition information to find the net carbs. I did experience a glitch with the app when trying to look up the net carbs of a blood orange. When I clicked to see the full nutrition information, the entire nutrition area went blank. Also, I don’t feel that for me the value of the app is worth the cost. It is very pricey compared to other meal planner apps. Even with lower prices, this app is ONLY subscription based. I have found free apps that, as long as you read the book, allow me to accomplish the same goals as the app would with tracking my diet.
