iSailor has come a long way from it's shaky beginnings as an App. Transas' PC program was always a most reliable crew member at sea, when I used to use a PC on my yacht. By comparison, iSailor was initially disappointing, but has gained the necessary direction and progress steadily over the last few updates. The Transas vector charts have always been the best available, in my opinion, so there is no problem there, but the App took a while to match that quality. I only have three wish list points to make, to get this app to the top, and keep it there. 1. The number of the next waypoint (in a route) is almost impossible to read on the iPad in daylight, as the contrast needs to be increased. It is currently written in a mid grey, rather than in white. 2. A function that allows the user to quickly work out the distance and bearing between two points, that are not necessarily the boats current position, is a pretty essential one. This needs to be incorporated as soon as possible. 3. A really useful function for sailors would be the addition of VMG. This computes the Velocity Made Good towards the next waypoint. This is extremely useful to work out the best tack for a sailor, and has all but disappeared from most GPSs, for some reason. It used to be standard on almost all GPSs, but I puzzle as to why it has been left out of more recent models. I do not think there is an app out there with this function. Transas could steal the lead with this. I have given five stars, up from my previous four. Well done Transas.
