TX-97 vector charts supported by iSailor are recognized worldwide as one of the most accurate and reliable sources of navigational information. Chart folios can be purchased and downloaded in the iSailor Chart Store utilizing the standard iTunes Store payment/purchasing procedure. Chart correction service is provided on annual basis via the auto-renewable subscription service. iTunes will charge payment after confirmation of the chart correction purchase. You may manage your subscriptions and turn off the auto-renewal service in the Account Settings. Your subscription will automatically renew unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the subscription period. You can cancel your subscription in the Chart Store any time. All previously purchased chart folios will remain available for you and can be restored from the service via the Chart Restore function. To receive subsequent chart corrections for your purchased charts, you will need to subscribe to the annual updates in the Chart Store. The application works on iPhone and iPad using built-in GPS, NMEA Wi-Fi GPS or an external Bluetooth GPS. Found myself constantly going back to iSailor. AIS integration works much better. Including your own position. Can’t believe how poorly this is done in the Boating app. Chart display could really do with an upgrade, especially showing the wind farms when zoomed out for passage planning. Both the ISailor app which I use for route planning but also of the professional ECDIS systems. At least since last week 30/04/2024 the chart server is down. Charts can be ordered, paid but will not load to the IPad as when trying to download an error occurs (pls try download later). Tried to contact Wartsila but without avail. Meanwhile, besides not having the charts as requested, also the subscription time is counting down. There are issues with updating maps with a valid subscription that have been known by the developer for almost a year but have not been solved. I really like the app. It works great with ais projection on the chart. The alarms are amazing and life saving on several occasions. The charts are relatively cheap. Update: I’ve purchased charts for The Gambia and Saint Vincent, there are no charts shown, I had this also in roscoff but thought it was an exception. Apperantly it is not. Why are these detailed charts missing?? One thing I’ve been wondering: are the routes great circle routes? FOR THE DEVELOPERs: In terms of alarms the only thing I am missing is an alarm on the speed. This would be a great way to be triggered on a wind increase. If I am sailing along at sea I try to reach optimal speed. This is around 5,5 knots. If I got to sleep /at night I reduce sail because I don’t want to continuesly keep watch. If the wind would increase so could the speed creating possibly a dangerous situation. If however the speed would be monitored I could leave extra sail in the night resulting in 10-20’extra miles per day. -- Benjamin sailor, 2021-01-19 ### **--- "Outdated charts even with active subscription" Today, after navigating into a tricky area, I found out that the charts are out of date. Even with an active subscription. The only way to update seems to be uninstalling and reinstalling the complete app. This is unacceptable. There should be a better way of checking for updates than comparing the charts with other iSailor users. Overnight Wärtsila decided to change the licensing model from perpetual to subscription. They no longer follow the agreement and charge me for 106 Euro upgrade fee, yearly! Same chart areas are offered by competition for free with paper charts or for less than 40 Euro.
