Democracy Dies in Darkness
Update since my last 4 star review: 2024 still sterling news coverage and a consistent stance of clarity about the Great 2020 T-Lie, alongside his leadership in the obedient destruction of democracy in the USA.
It is a shame, however, we still read fascist propaganda puppet opinion pieces. Why? Is this a bending and fear of the Right’s will? The world’s safety hinges on not just the resolution to Trumpism, but the global alignment to deter another potentially cataclysmic infestation elsewhere in the world. I still love the read aloud feature - so valuable to me, when one is juggling so many life demands, domestic chores, child rearing, waiting for my Dell crud laptop to reboot, Windows to force updates several times a week... I’d avoided the WP pay wall for years until the destructive anti democracy events of the Brexit and Trump era. I feel there are only a few beacons of rigorous reporting in this world of Facebook’s popularist race to oblivion. I’m particularly enjoying the video content, including speaker events and specials.
Best international newspaper ever
I have had a yearly subscription to Washington Post since 2016 and I live in Australia and think it’s gives me the best coverage of anything happening in the US at any given time
An essential read
Highly readable. Comprehensive coverage of US and world issues. Particularly appreciate a range of competing opinions. An Aussie subscriber. DES Monaghan, Sydney
Great editorials
A good insight.
The Best
Folks…. It’s time to get real. Our democracy is under direct threat by Trump and his thugs. Do you want a free country and a stable world?
Please stay relevant WP
WP has been a leading and reliable news source, with some ground breaking investigative journalism keeping the powerful accountable. However, in these rapidly changing times, just when incisive reporting and analysis is needed, I am increasingly frustrated by a lack of sharpness in WP’s coverage. There is often use of euphemistic soft language when covering the rise of dangerous authoritarians and historic political instability in the US and elsewhere, and an outdated horse race mentality applied to the frankly bizarre dynamics surrounding the upcoming US election. When democracy is at stake as it is right now, it seems that fuzzy lukewarm journalism and cagey corporate type editorial decisions might just help it die.
Remember WP, democracy dies in darkness. If the pursuit of truth is not your guiding principle then you will fail as a news organisation, especially if you end up ground up underfoot by a fascist government.

Enjoyed listening nice paper
Get the inside edge
I’m an offshore reader, but WaPo provides fantastic coverage of the US political scene, which after all matters to everyone, interested party or not. Also great selection of feature articles and generally great journalism.
Does what it says on the tin: Democracy Dies in Darkness
Update since my last 4 star review: still sterling news coverage and a somewhat consistent stance of clarity about the Great 2020 T-Lie, alongside his leadership in the obedient destruction of democracy in the USA.
It is a shame, however, The Post has removed the Ukraine Conflict Tab. Why? Is this a bending and fear of the Right’s will? The world’s safety hinges on not just the resolution of this conflict, but the global alignment to deter another potentially cataclysmic invasion elsewhere in the world.
