Kia ora Auckland, It’s us, your water provider. It only took till 2023, but we’ve caved in, moved with the times and got an app. Why? To make life a tad easier for you and your whānau when it comes to viewing your water use and paying a bill.

If you’ve got a single use water meter at home - sorry, shared meter peeps, you don’t qualify this time around – you can tap into your water use without waiting for a bill. And no matter if your meter is a mechanical version or a new smarty-pants one, everyone can make one-off payments right here, right now!

If you’re lucky enough to have a smart meter, you’ll get the most out of this wee app. There’s basically more features than you can shake a stick at. Check it out:

### *---- "Always need to sign in every month"
What’s the point of an app if I have to login every month when I want to make a payment, it’s easier to use the website. Also there seems to be a display or update issue after logging in. This month I logged in to make a payment only for it to charge the incorrect amount as it was still basing it off the previous month changes that had already been paid. For an application that has probably costed a lot in development costs it’s concerning how bad this is.

Shady / dark pattern with the customers money in the app - it feels like you’re tricking customers to pay bills multiple times, and you’re actually succeeding!
The app shows payments due which have already been paid, you go through the payment, there is no confirmation of the payment and then there is a new amount to pay which shows as overdue?! So you end up paying that too, and once again there is no confirmation. No email, no comms, billing history is not updated after hours from the 2 transactions and the dashboard still shows an overdue amount to be paid. 
That’s a great way to get money in advance at the expense of your customers! Considering the economic challenges and the recent price increase we expect you to be better!

I can’t add a property (which I’ve owned for 20 years).  Chat box assistant didn’t help.  Told me no one else was having any problems. So I am lying?

I keep getting logged out every 2-3 weeks? 
Issues with certain PDF bills not loading through the app, have to go into my emails & source the water bill in question (eg March 2024) with no reason why the PDF is unable to be loaded.

The app doesn’t show the usage data from the smart meter. It says ‘no data available’. There’s no app support to submit that as an error, no app faq, not sure what to do to be able to check our daily water usage

So I have tried to get this to work it did once but it doesn’t recognise your password- even after you reset it and it’s accepted !!! 
It doesn’t share the Watercare password from their main website either…
I have had this app for a while and tried to make it work  so save yourself a lot of time and forget it

App looks clean, twice now the app has failed to update the billing information quickly and I’ve ended up paying for last months bill (again) and the current month. I then need to follow up with customer services to get refunded. 

The current bill (paid) still shows as outstanding on the app which will likely cause the same cycle next month.

### *---- "Waste of an app which we pay for"
The app has a nice clean interface, but as a person who pays with automatic payment, the app serves absolutely no purpose. There is no feature to submit a meter reading, you can’t send a message or report a fault in the app unless it’s via the “live chat” which is only active between office hours of Mon-Fri, my bill is already delivered efficiently via email. So for any useful purpose I use the Watercare website to submit reports and information.

Hopefully there is further development because otherwise we are supporting the cost of the app in our billing, but it’s delivering no value.

The app has been built for a phone size device so isn’t as nice to use on a tablet. Too many businesses forget that there are a lot of users who prefer to use a tablet for this type of thing.
