I opened the website on my phone and it took me to the Waterstones app. It did a quick update and within seconds I’d found the book I wanted, ordered it, part paid using my loyalty points and it’ll be here in a couple of days.

I know nothing beats a real bookshop, but this was really nice and easy, thank you.

App is great, never had any real issues with searching for anything, wishlist is great and have spent way too much money now lol, only thing I would recommend to the devs is when searching, I sometimes want to find something new rather than just best selling, having a (here is a random selection of this category) such as manga and graphic novels would mean I would be able to find existing series I wouldn’t have known about. If this exists please tell me as I haven’t found it yet lmao

If you’re in competition with Amazon, you have to get a visually appealing interface right, and on iPad there’s a great missed opportunity to utilise the screen real estate.
Furthermore, on no platform or browser can I update card or address details. It’s totally broken for me.

Disappointing. I downloaded the app onto my iPad because I’m more likely to browse on there and the app is terrible. It’s a tiny box whichever way I have the screen orientation and it doesn’t even let me login to my account. I have no problems on the web browser, but this is a real disappointment and poor output by Waterstones.

Basket functionality is terrible: really difficult to return to browsing  — what looks like a “close” sign is in fact delete, even through the delete functionality is clearly present next to the quantity number and “trash” icon.
Search is also poor: if you are a letter out, forget it; and even if you are 100% accurate the items are sorted by some sort of crazy (nonsensical) algorithm

The app always shows that it is unable to connect on my iPhone even though I am connected to Wi-Fi and I am not able to use it. Have tried reinstalling multiple times but it still doesn’t work. It’s a great app otherwise as I use it on my iPad.

The app is easy to use, navigate and is well laid out; more highlights, best sellers and just announced titles are at the top, giving you the latest and hottest titles to catch attention. 
Furthermore, the fact that you can see the front of the books whilst scrolling down, brings life, colour and fun to the layout.
Easy to save titles for future purchase, with availability of any title you look at clearly displayed along with reviews and option to add to basket or click and collect. It’s good there’s plenty of options on titles for flexibility on purchasing.
