Whistle: Smart Pet Tracker

I was given this device after getting my dog dna tested and completing a survey. Worked well to begin with. Have had to reinstall the app after it stopped working and sometimes it will not sync to my iPhone. I have found that plugging the device into my laptop when there is a problem helps.

I received this after buying a DNA test for my dog and completing surveys. I thought it was not going to pair, like another reviewer, but I then clicked on the option for other devices and there is a second version of the FIT on the second page, which allowed me to pair it. So far it has been interesting. It is accurate about sleep, activity and even the timing of meals. I’ll need to wait for seven days of tracking to see more data and patterns, but I think it is going to be useful. I have my FitBit and my dog has a Whistle FIT, so we can compare stats 🐶

Sent the hardware for this app after carrying out their surveys. Can’t get my phone to link with the device despite doing everything the app says IPhone 13 pro max). Glad I didn’t pay for it as I can file it where it belongs without feeling seen off. l’m not sending it back to America, from where it came!

Great for monitoring dog’s activity; walks, plays, sleeps, drinking, licking etc.

Peace of mind is key to helping me care for my dogs, knowing Whistle is keeping track of what’s going on with them makes me feel happy. Knowing when they are poorly ahead of when I would notice is invaluable! Thanks Whistle.

Rubbish

Nothing is perfect, that's why I've been a paying whistle customer since the first generation. I get it. But when the device gives up the ghost due to terrible design (fragile charge port), I asked for help from support. Robot mode engaged and I was told simply the device is out of warranty. I asked if they'd offer an upgrade discount since their device died due to poor design. "Nope" was the short answer. I was not pleased and asked to cancel my service because I don't like their notion customer loyalty- I held up my end of the bargain for years, they simply said "tough luck". The hitch is canceling my subscription: I've paid for an annual subscription and they won't prorate the six months of unused service. Their device breaks, yet I can't use the service. It's one thing if I just decided to cancel because I chose to switch to a less expensive service. I seriously hope you consider the value of a repeat subscriber and know that Whistle does not. FWIW, another serious flaw: it doesn't successfully track my pet half the time while within a solid cell signal zone. It may take 10 minutes or worse to get a fix on my pet. Further, now I seem to be on some data mining campaign where I get spammed by whistle asking me "how is your pet is feeling today?" Ah, what? Now I probably could reach out to support and have them stop the nagging, but why was it not an opt in program? These guys are just another data mining company after your personal information. Not a fan of this company anymore. Seeking alternatives.

I have been using whistle for about 6 years or so. It has been always good. However, lately it won’t locate my dog anymore. I have an escape artist, and I was able to see his entire route. Now I can’t even locate him. The app only notifies me when he is home. We also lost a device on my other dog. The special clip that connects to the collar got loose and wouldn’t stay in. We couldn’t find it because it wouldn’t show the location. I will probably cancel and switch to a different company.

After purchasing a different GPS tracker that was a nightmare and had no customer support, I trashed it and decided to buy this based on the recommendation from Wirecutter. It’s awesome. Easy to set up, notifies us when she wanders outside the electronic fence, and tracks her accurately. The battery lasts a week. We are on 2 acres, it takes a while to locate her if she is on the property because the gps isn’t connected all the time.

I purchased the Whistle GPS pet device, with high hopes of a superior product and customer support, only to be deeply disappointed. The device worked fine for the first 90 days but then started malfunctioning. As any reasonable customer would do, I contacted Whistle for support under their warranty. To my dismay, I was told that the warranty wouldn't be honored because my purchase had been redirected to a third-party reseller. This is despite the fact that I bought it directly from Amazon! It appears Whistle is using this as a loophole to avoid honoring their warranty obligations. It's a real letdown to see a company shirking its responsibility and not standing behind its products. The warranty should be tied to the product itself, not the purchase pathway. This experience raises serious questions about Whistle's commitment to product quality and customer satisfaction. Potential buyers should be cautious. While the product might seem appealing, the lack of support and responsibility from the company is a major concern. I advise prospective buyers to consider this before making their purchase. Despite the promise of the product, this lack of accountability makes it impossible for me to recommend the Whistle GPS device for pets. Whistle, you've lost a customer, and I'm sure I won't be the last if you continue with such business practices. #DisappointedCustomer #BuyerBeware
