WienMobil FAQ
Is WienMobil free?
Yes, WienMobil is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is WienMobil legit?
⚠️ The WienMobil app has poor ratings and negative feedback. Users seem unsatisfied with its performance or features.
Tried this app for the first time. Works perfect! Thank you!
In previous reviews the main complain was the need to create an account. In reality it was not a big deal. I purchased a 7 day rolling ticket (different from the Wochenkarte). It works just fine.
Doesn’t work when you need it
Code 100 errors often (so app won’t work) also the payment system is connected to another website that processes payments which often causes issues and doesn’t work. App needs help. WienMobil website states that if you are having trouble with your phone (the app) and can’t show your ticket on a train you can get fined €100 by an inspector and it’s your fault.
Couldn't buy tickets
We gave up trying to buy tickets after slogging through screens and screens of information requests. Buying a one-week travel pass should be a one-button action, with the pass then linked to the phone that purchased it.
But the ticket from the machine was effortless.
Ridiculous
The steps required to buy a ticket are ridiculous. They ask for your name like 5 times. They want all your personal details for no reason. They should be ashamed of this - in most cities it takes like 30 seconds to open the app and buy a ticket.
Requires too much information
Why do I have to create an account and provide so much personal information to purchase a ticket? I do not have to provide this information if I purchase tickets at a Bahnhof. So it should be the same on the app. I should be able to select tickets and purchase, plain and simple. Unacceptable requirement.
Too complicated for no reason
The issue that others brought up is still a problem. To buy a single use ticket (or any) there are 2 account sign ups, 2 confirmation emails, addresses and phone number adds etc. Then you choose ApplePay. Ridiculous. Simplify please! Just do app download and sign up with cell number, 1 text confirmation and then ApplePay or card. Done easy. Please fix this nonsense.
Did what it needs to do
I'm traveling to Austria and needed to buy public transport tickets. I was able to register and buy 2, 7-day tickets for my spouse and I within 5 minutes using apple pay. The 72 hr and 7-day ticket is the same price so I'd just get that if you're here for 4.5 days or just 3+ days.
Entirely useless
The Login button on the sidebar worked once and I was able to create an account. Now when clicking the Login button, the prompt disappears immediately and it says an error has occurred. This continues after deleting and reinstalling the app.
Terrible app
The app before worked great. This app is not user friendly and often is incorrect.
Running in circles to get a ticket
It took me probably 15 minutes to finally get my ticket. Had to log into a website, make an account, approve two emails, make a new passcode, do it all over again. Just to get two tickets with Apple Pay. I don’t think it could get more complicated. But I persisted and succeeded. Now I just hope all the info I had to submit stays private.
