Excellent alternative to SONOS
I started looking for an alternative to Sonos after recent changes to the Sonos app reduced functionality and made it difficult to navigate.
I got a little WiiM mini and I’m just amazed at how slick and easy it is to set up with the app and how easy it is to navigate music, save presets, set alarm and sleep timers and generally do the stuff you want to do. VTuner is a huge plus as it means I can access stations no longer available on Sonos. Great stuff.
So far so good
Looking for a Sonos replacement so bought a WiiM mini and hooked it up to my Sonos 5 and amazed at the quality of the sound and the quality of the application
They add features and respond on the forums to users problems and fix them omg
So I will be replacing my Sonos over time with WiiM highly recommended 👍
Very Good
I’m migrating from SONOS, and so far I like what I’m seeing, just one small request, could the sleep timer fade out like the SONOS system did, before SONOS removed that feature, LOL.
First of many
An excellent well thought out piece of Tec simply great
Streaming music is a pleasure again
Wow. After years of toiling in the SONOS salt mines, I'd almost given up hope of getting a decent home streaming system without a Rapsberry Pi and a degree in Computer Science. Then a Verge article pointed me to WiiM and within 24 hours all my music was back and sounding better than ever. In less than a week I've managed to replace my slow, shonky SONOS system with cheaper, better, more reliable kit, and listening to music is finally a pleasure again.
The app itself could use a few UI improvements. NAS drives are buried in the menus, and convenience features like A-Z scrolling would be very useful. But what really matters here is the core Linkplay technology which seems to be streets ahead of the competition, meaning the devices respond immediately and it's easy to control all the settings. Airplay works great and the WiiM Pros have Cast support too, and we've found using Spotify and Plexamp a real pleasure. I am also really enjoying the ability to listen to internet radio streams around the world via their URLs, as the internet intended.
I'm optimistic that WiiM will keep investing in the products, unlike SONOS who mostly seem to do stock buybacks and nuisance lawsuits against competitors now. The team behind it seem to be pretty open and user-focussed so I hope they will keep talking to customers and evolving the app and hardware options to suit us. I'm certainly feeling a lot more positive about buying into the WiiM system than I have with any other audio ecosystems.
Keep going folks, you're doing great!!
Versatile and easy to use
Great app and a great product. The updates make sure you are getting the best sound at all times. Easy to connect and easy to use !!
Exceptional super value
Super App works really well with my Wiim pro plus 10/10and Marantz Digital amp.
App can’t see device
Every time I want to connect I’m forced to wipe and add the device again. I emailed the support team and they advised changing the router settings - I mean seriously this is 2024….
Great when it works but I seriously cannot be bothered.
Rubbish
Doesnt play higher quality
VoiceOver performance just okay for blind people
This app contains many unlabelled buttons which are more than guessable but this is no way to have an accessible application for all your users. As a blind person I would’ve gone deeper into the system with more devices if the simple active labelling buttons and sorting out VoiceOver focus issues was resolved. At the moment, it gets three stars but I do love the system.
