WikiCamps Australia Reviews

Bring back the old format

hilux1995 on

Australia

It’s not the same since this was brought out by a larger organisation. When it was owned and operated as a small group, was much better and user friendly The search functions in some areas are working backwards, making it harder to find what you want. You should be able to select if you want to search or exclude the selected item/camp type etc if they are going down this path. This is not the app I paid for anymore. :(

Wheres my checklist?

Checklists, weather, sat finder, usability. All gone with this useless update. It’s abhorrent to open this app and nothing that you loved about it is there anymore. Also has googleads embedded!

New update is bad

Things I used to want to filter FOR I can only now filter OUT. Overnight they deleted my use case for the app from the code.

Used to be good but now latest upgrade renders offline useless

Used to be good but now latest upgrade renders offline useless, cannot load app if offline, used to be able to in old version, pointless for offgrid travel, using camper mate instead, much easier

Grant, you wrecked it

This app used to be so much better before it was sold to discovery parks. Ignore the no overnight camping labels and read the reviews! Most day use areas don't actually have the signage saying you can't stay overnight. No overnight parking is something that has been added by the discovery parks team, fear mongering people into skipping free camping and booking sites in caravan parks. It's still a great app, if you know how to use it.

Not as good

Sinsational on

Australia

I used to be able to copy the host website address and paste it into my web browser of choice, but it won’t let me do that after the last update. I’m now forced to open the website in the app. Not a positive development.

Wiki upgrade

Roythedestroy on

Since the recent upgrade the app has become difficult use. The old app was excellent when off line. The new version often does not show points of interest even when they are close by. When filters are reset it wants each reset to be named. Please bring back the old app

NEW APP IS AWFUL

The old app was so much better. If you haven’t downloaded the new app, it is much better to stay with the old one.

App has gone to rubbish don't waste your money

I have been using this app for many years now, It was great until the recent update. Now it won't open up offline, & even if does there is no satellite view. It doesn't show all my saved points. I do not recommend this app anymore.

A once great app ruined by overdevelopment

RM rover on

Australia

I used to love wikicamps, it was simple, it had all the features you wanted but very few you didn't need, now they've completely overhauled the app and ruined it, you can no longer filter sites by showing what they lack, the whole thing uses huge amounts of internet, battery and processing power. Before you could easily load and finds campsite on 1 bar, now the thing struggles on a stable wifi connection. The old wiki camps was bushproof and reliable now I know I can't rely on this new version. Waste of money now
