Used it for some time.

And it is good if someone has done a route. Also good to import a GPX file to follow the route. However you can’t the adjust the route once you are on it and want to add to the route. You can’t plan a route unless you have the ability to import from a fox file from else. (I.e ordnance survey map)

Good app

Good app, I am pleased that I used it once. Inside app, it says that you will be asked before getting charged for a subscription. Not only they haven't asked but they charged an annual subscription. So probably the most expensive app I ever owned. £20 for one use. Should not trust them - is my fault.

Where’s my fanfare?

I complete most of my walks by heading back to where I park the car and not the exact finish point of the walk. Because of this the app doesn’t register that I’ve completed the walk, I don’t get a fanfare 😕 and neither does the walk author know someone has completed their walk. Completed walks should be within a 500m radius of the finish point.

Love this app.

I don’t usually bother reviewing the apps I have but, I’ve just read some of the reviews on Google so here goes. I’ve had this app for years, possibly since before there was a premium version. I’ve never had any problems with it. I decided to pay the £5/year as I liked if so much. I’ve used it in Scotland and Europe on walking, skiing and even beach holidays. I usually switch to flight mode when on long walks which I expect to take more than 8hrs. I click the screen off when I put it in my pocket and it’s there to flip on again when I want. I like that you are always “ looking “ towards the top of your phone as this means that if you are looking in the direction you are going you walk towards the top of the phone and the map orientates under you, OS maps don’t doo this which can be a bit annoying and yes I have that app too and pay a bit more for it as there is more details in the map. It’s great that you can share walks with others. All in all I have no complaints with this tidy little app.

Buggy

catman2222 on

I found this app frustrating to use . It had me walking at 250 mph yet completing my 2 hour walk in 7 hours . I couldn’t scroll the elevation or get much idea of where I was on it . And it kept giving me drama about recording my trail and pausing and resuming - I had no interest in recording my trail . I just wanted a clear start button to begin and nothing else . On tne website it told me to scan the QR code to upload the trail to my phone without presenting a QR code . So disappointed on both website and especially the app . Needs more work to be made more user friendly.

Good enough but now too expensive

At the start of my trial it was 9.99 a year so bad timing as it is now 19.99 at the end of my trial. Wikiloc is not as good as OSMaps, i would have subscribed for 9.99 a year but it’s not worth 19.99 yet so not tempted to move over from osmaps.

Great interface

Great for off piste walks. Paths with photos at waypoints sure helpful.

Wikiloc genuine rating

This is an update of the review I put n a few years ago. Same issue of not able to plot a route, otherwise excellent app This app is really good for all aspects of walks with only one exception for me. I would like to be able to plot a route before leaving which I don’t think you can do. Every thing else that I would want is in there. I would highly recommend this app and often do, especially at the cost. We do use an app called footpaths for plotting walks so something similar included in Wikiloc would give it a 5 star rating for me,
