Wikiloc genuine rating
This is an update of the review I put n a few years ago. Same issue of not able to plot a route, otherwise excellent app This app is really good for all aspects of walks with only one exception for me. I would like to be able to plot a route before leaving which I don’t think you can do. Every thing else that I would want is in there. I would highly recommend this app and often do, especially at the cost. We do use an app called footpaths for plotting walks so something similar included in Wikiloc would give it a 5 star rating for me,
A useful tool
A very useful tool particularly when exploring new areas. It is generally a breadcrumb trail that leads you to a honeypot walking area - the more trails there are from an area, the more likely it is to be good walking. A note of caution- As anyone can post a route, some routes are, let’s say, easier to follow than others!
Poor searching facility
Whilst scanning the map it will say that no search criteria found but I’ve just been sent a new trail in that very area!! Bizarre
Promising But !
The application looks promising, but it has a big drawback, for me it doesn't work horizontally! Unfortunately, this is the way I can keep my phone in my vehicle and due to this trivial defect I am unable to use it, PLEASE DO SOMETHING WITH IT, THANK YOU ! so far 3 stars sorry
Unauthorised payment??
Connected to my new Garmin using the QR Code, seconds later I get an email thanking me for my purchase of Premium. The email states I can manage my subscription on the settings/ Subscription page but there are no options to change. What is going on?
Too many junk routes
Like the website you have to trawl through hundreds of copycat routes, badly named and poorly described. There’s no discrimination between good and bad routes. There are some excellent posters who can be relied upon and write up informative reports, but finding them is too difficult. Very frustrating.
Good, but not great
Tried the free version which was very basic. Upgraded to premium which gives much more functionality and pinpoints you on the map. Two dealbreaker’s for me: 1. Very battery intensive; and, 2. No way to individually turn off alert just for an upcoming spot where a photo of the route was taken - so each time the alert sounds I assume I have gone off course (the alert is the same).
Room for improvement
The idea of this app is good but it could do better. The map feature is clunky and it is displayed without a scale ruler so distance is difficult to estimate. There doesn’t seem to be anyway to export your data into a personal log book. For example, I’d like to export my trails onto a csv file or load onto another map Platform. Who owns my route data? Wikiloc or me???
Good app. Great if it works on CarPlay!
This is a good app that would be great if it worked on CarPlay so Users could follow routes on vehicles inbuilt screens. Useful, simple, and collaborative it gives good information and tracking.
